5. 1930 - children begin traveling to point-aux-chenes to go to school
6. 1940 - the mission school built for young islanders
7. 1952 - island builds first "indian high school"
8 1967 - local high schools begin admitting native american students
9. 2005 - hurricanes katrina and rita hit, 200 square miles of wetlands lost
10. 2008 - hurricane gustav damages only road to isle de jean charles
11. 2016 - tribe receives $4.8 million grant to move
