*Jennifer 's Assessment beliefs: Formative assessments help drive the teachers instruction on a daily basis so that instruction can reflect what the students need both right now and in the future. Students should be aware of why we are assessing and take an active role in that growth process.

Pet peeve: Standardized assessments are not always developmentally appropriate for our kindergarten students which can be frustrating for both the students and the teachers. Data collected is not only valid. In my opinion some of the standardized assessments we are required to give assess the students ability to use a computer than their knowledge/skills they possess.

Jenny's Assessment Beliefs -
+ formative assessments are crucial to learning if my art students are understanding the content.

+ In elementary I love that we do not have to grade art projects - that being said - assessment is still most definitely happening as we move through each project and area of students to better meet the needs of the students. In middle and high school we do assess artwork, and for the most part in my experience it has been done in a valid and fair way, I wonder though if there is a better way that would encourage students to establish a life-long love of learning the arts. I often wonder if the assessment is turning people away in the fine art area.
