It's not just the way that he plays but the respect he has for the game. Honoring his teammates and his country and himself. Every breath he takes is for the game. 5 feet and 7 inches of dribbling and passing and finishing. 

He entered the Benito Villamarin as an opponent. The stands were packed. They were there for him. They all paid to see him. They knew what he was capable of. He stood in the center of the field and moved freely throughout the 90 minutes. His face was focused and determined without once breaking a sweat. He scored goal after goal after goal. All sat in awe of what they had witnessed. On the third goal he took up his position 20 yards out and lofted the ball over the goalkeeper without effort, as the goalkeeper stood rooted to the field. Messi whirled away with a casual jog and pointed towards the sky as time stood still with the ball in the net. His performance was never about himself or his teammates. It was all for the sport and the crowd showed their appreciation as 60,000 fans rose to their feet and gave an ovation. 

Football, futbol, soccer. He was it. It was him. There was nothing else.

Blaring the cupid shuffle on the ski lift so everyone around us stares is the best part by far, or maybe throwing snowballs at people as they're going down the mountain, I really can't choose. In fact, I am so into snowboarding that I constructed my own grind rail so when it snows and there is some fresh gnar on the ground, I can still hit those stinky grinds without going to the mountains. I enjoy watching the winter Olympics because I learn new tricks that the pros do, and most likely break a bone because i'm not a professional gnar shredder like they are. It was the only thing that could allow me to express ideas, thoughts, concepts, without words. Words were difficult to string into logic and even more difficult to say out loud. You couldn't do that with a picture-all languages started as characters and pictograms. Writing was a chore and talking was just annoying.

Like all things, however, that changes. Thankfully, with the coming of junior year, my ego has taken a solid knock down. However, that was followed by a decrease in interest for drawing. My time was turned towards other, more banal uses; video games and movies, for one. But as amusing as these things were, it didn't offer room for me, or my own self-expression. My creations turned ugly in my eyes, and-not for vanity or seeking of more compliments-I denied each person that sought to compliment them. Every attempt to draw again led to my forearm stinging. Physical doodles on scraps of paper were nothing more then wasted graphite, and the images I put on the screen were wasted pixels.

The pedro romero of basketball is lebron. Early in his career, barley an 18 year old, he drug his crappy team to the playoffs, and has been to 8 consecutive nba finals. Jordan has had so much more help than Lebron, because he had a big 4 and scottie pippen, who was another top 15 player of all time. Lebron did not go to college and went to the league as a 19 year old. Jordan had help by many great college colleges coaches at UNC, where he played three years. Lebron has more points all time, points per game, more rebounds per game, and more assists and steals per game than Jordan. The only reason that I can understand for Jordan’s case is his championships. To that I would say his team was the superteam of the 90’s, and it is not Jordan doing all of the work like it is lebron. Lebron also has never lost in the first round of the playoffs, but Jordan has multiple times. Lebron is the goat.
