Todorov Theory:
A structure that follows three main stages. An Equilibrium, disequilibrium (disturbance) then a new equilibrium (resolution). This is the common narrative structure of most Hollywood films. Fight Club breaks this mould by starting with a disequilibrium.
Character Functions
- The film doesn't conform to typical character functions, instead it subverts them. For example, the Narrator/Tyler is both the hero and the villain.
Hero has a weakness - Narrator's insomnia / alter ego. The villain is what The Narrator aspires to be (which is unconventional)
