Create a game prototype on paper (non-digital game)

Rules Overview:

At the start of the game, each player receives an "Identity/Life Card."

• The "Life Card" shows the player’s health points (default: 2).

• The "Identity" (on the back of the card) reveals whether the player is a detective or a killer.

All players draw three magic cards.

Role Assignment:

• 4–5 players: 1 killer, the rest are detectives.

• 6–10 players: 2 killers, the rest are detectives.

• There should be a rule enforcer to assist with the flow of the game

The game also includes:

• Magic cards (for special abilities)

• Injury markers (to cover life points when damaged)

• A bomb progress tracker (for the killers' escape condition)

Gameplay (Each Round = "One Day")

Each day consists of five phases:

1. Night Phase

2. Magic Acquisition Phase

3. Discussion Phase

4. Skill Activation Phase

5. Voting Phase

First Day:

• Players draw 3 magic cards.

• Introduction Phase: Players introduce themselves and may discuss strategies (without revealing their true roles).
  (Example: "Hi, I'm Matt. I have a powerful card—let's work together to catch the killer!")

Subsequent Days:

1. Night Phase:

   • All players close their eyes (except killers, the rule enforcer will help in this phase).

   • Killers secretly choose a player to attack (can self-target).

   • The attacked player loses 1 HP. If HP reaches 0, they die (and can only spectate).

   • bomb progress increases by 1 (starting at 0 → 1 on Day 1).

2. Magic Acquisition Phase:

   • All players gain 1 magic point (used to activate magic cards).

3. Discussion Phase:

   • Players take turns (clockwise or counterclockwise) to share suspicions, defend themselves, or accuse others.

   • Players may skip their turn.

4. Skill Activation Phase:

   • Players may spend magic points to use cards (1 card per turn max).

   • The order follows the Discussion Phase’s speaking order.

   • 7-minute time limit (free discussion allowed).

5. Voting Phase:

   • Players vote to either:

     • "Imprison" a player (reduces their HP to 0).

     • "Skip" (no one is imprisoned).

   • The majority decides; if tied, the vote skips.

Victory Conditions:

• Detectives win if they identify and imprison all killers before the killers achieve their goals.

• Killers win if they either:

  • Complete the bomb (by Day 6 in 4–5 player games, Day 10 in 6–10 player games).

  • Reduce living detectives to fewer than killers (each detective must be injured twice).

Magic cards:
cheese and wine:

Heal 1 HP to one player alive, cost 2 magic points.

Rapier strike:
Decrease 1 HP to one play alive, cost 1 magic point.

An enchanted holy baguet shield:
Protects a player from any form all damage for 1 round, costs 1 magic point.

Pinochio’s nose potion:
Reveals one player’s identity publicly, costs 4 magic points.

A gambit’s handshake:
Gifts a magic point to a player who’s alive, costs 1 magic point.

Double or nothing:
Reveals an identity privately, if the player who’s revealed is a ‘killer’, then the ‘killer’ player loses all health (unless the player has the effect of ‘An enchanted holy baguet shield’ on them at the time.), but if the player is a ‘detective’, then the user dies, costing 2 magic points.

devil’s stims:
When used, the effect isn’t imitate, acting more like a passive. When the player with this card loses all HP, they will not die, but will become unkillable for 1 more round(even if the bomb will be completed); their HP will be reduced back to zero automatically the next round after the magic phase. Costs 2 magic points.

Final prism spark:
Deals 2 HP to any play alive, ignoring all effects(devil’s stims and baguet shield’s effect won’t work), costing 4 magic points.
