Different cultures bring different beautiful traditions, foods, languages, and so much more. Yes, there are so many times in my life where I get to say "small world" and laugh with the stranger I made a crazy connection with, but in reality this world has so much to offer, and I only know a tiny portion of it. I enjoyed hearing about the ways that people from other cultures go about life including the hardships they have been through, and the beautiful things about their culture. Despite the fact that this trip was based on ASL, I did not feel the most confident about my ASL skills, and I was really nervous about communicating with our deaf tour guides. I have also never studied French, and I was very nervous about trying to communicate with the locals in France. However, this trip really did help me to feel comfortable communicating with people that may not have English as their first language, or may not know English at all. By the end of the trip I was so comfortable chatting with Himel and Darren, and I was no longer nervous when ordering at a restaurant or buying something at a shop.
