Whether positive or negative he lives his life by his own standards. And does not care what society thinks. To me this quote means not listening to society, and doing your own thing. I can relate this to my own life in the fact that I "hear a different drummer". This is because unlike most high school students, I have very high goals and hold myself to very high standards. Both athletically and academically. I chose this quote because I feel that this quote is very true. As adults, people take nature for granted. The choice I made was to become the best football player around. By making this decision my life has changed forever. This past summer I worked harder than I ever have before. I spent 6 hours a day 6 days a week lifting weights and working on my craft. By the games started I worked my way in on special teams. Then week 4 of the season I got my first start and haven't looked back since. But the choice I made to be the best football player I could possibly be changed the way I worked at myself and the way my peers look at me as well. People respect me for what I have accomplished so far and the work ethic that I have.
