I chose this photo of my dad's '65 fastback because of my family's love for cars.

I made sure that the main focus was on the car but still emphasized the plane in the background.

I edited out a homeless encampment, altered the color, and got rid of a few leaves after I sharpened it.

My subject is turf dancing and this is something I particpate it in that doesnt get alot of apreciation and i wanted to showcase is

I wanted it to look dim because i wanted to focus on the dancing so i made it black and white to get the sort of vague effect

I made it sort of darker and changed it to black and white and removed the other camera man so you could focus on the dancing

I chose to take a picture of this because getting sushi has always been a tradition for my family. Especially for my birthday, I get it every year and it's something I look forward to.

For the placement of this picture I wanted to take it from a side angle. This gave me a better view of the entire meal and wanted a somewhat darker lighting to bring out the colors of these dishes.

In photoshop I tried to emphasize the food in the picture and make it brighter than anything else in the picture.

My subject is my dog Buddy, and I chose this photo because he is a big part of our family and he is in his favorite place with his favorite toys that he plays with all of the time.

Lighting is near a window on the right side, but Buddy was originally in the middle of the picture, which I adjusted due to Rule of Thirds as well as removing random stuff in the back.

In PS, I cropped it, put a mask around Buddy, and then blurred the background to make Buddy stand out better, because I wanted to showcase his happiness. I also adjusted hue/saturation and added more color so that the colorful toys would pop.

I chose this photo because my family as a whole really like, red beans, and rice with cornbread and it has a big history with my family lineage.

I made sure to keep the bag in the frame because the orange compliments the color of the cornbread.

I cut out the rest of the objects in the photo as I found they diverted your eyes from the main focus point of the photo which is the plate.

My subject is this blue sugar skull my mom bought at a consignment store. (sugar skulls are a part of Mexican culture and are usually seen during Días de los muertos) I am biologically Mexican-American, but my birth parents are white. I appreciate how open my parents are so open to my heritage.

I wanted to make the blue color pop more, so I gray scaled the background and added a dark blue airbrush effect around the shadowed side of the sugar skull.

I sharpened the image to where the lighter blue lines looked crisp, and added a little gausian blur to the bricks behind it to make sure the focus was entirely on the sugar skull.

My subject is my stuffed lion, Tigey. I chose him because my family gives a different stuffed animal to each child that they keep their whole life.

I purposefully put Tigey next to a window during sunset for direct light coming from the left, and I followed the 2/3 rule when taking the photo.

I made the backround black and white in Photoshop to emphasize Tigey as the subject, as well as adding a somber, nostalgic, tone.

I Choose this picture of my grandma in Mexico with her garden that she has been taking care for years. This shows my families love for flowers because of her and her big garden she has in Mexico

I made sure to make the lighting on this more dark so these flowers can really stand out.

The subject is my mother and the photo she's holding. I chose her because the ofrenda holds almost exclusively her family.

The lighting is coming from the left from a nearby window, the curtains are closed to prevent from the picture being too bright.

I made the background achromatic to highlight my subject, I increased hue and saturation to give my subject a red tint that I like. I added subtle brush coloring to highlight colors I liked on my subject, and lastly I made the photo she's holding brighter. I did that last bit because I wanted to highlight the importance of that photo. as it has her mother with HER mother.

I chose this photo because I find Marigolds really pretty and my family loves them as well

I wanted to make sure the flowers kind of filled up the whole photo so it looks like a bush/bouquet of Marigolds. I feel like it gave the photo more of a fun and complete effect.

While using photoshop I wanted to make sure that the orange flowers would stand out the most and be the main focus.

My subject is a Vietnamese sauce and I chose this because it's a traditional sauce my family uses.

I chose this photo because of my immediate family's tradition to collect beanie babies. This is one of the many beanie babies in my family's collections.

I used this placement and lighting to use make shadows, despite the deep black color of the object. I also made sure to get the tag in the photo, even though it is cut off slightly.

I used the unsharpen mask feature to emphasize the shadows and used a tint feature to make a slightly black hue.

My subject is my dad's mustang, which has been in my family for a long time.

The car was already in a convenient location, and the lighting was right after noon.

I changed the color balance, to make the blue of the car pop more. I also adjusted the brightness.

I tried to photograph in a different way; I tilted my camera and turned my camera a little to the left

I added a lot of saturation and vibrance. I also made the highlights yellow and the shadows blue. This was a challenge because I had to try not to make the whole photo look green.

My subject is a two ruby bracelets. I chose these bracelets because these have been passed down for multiple generations and they are very important. 2. Although i think there isn't enough background i placed them strategically on a carpet in order for them to pop out rather then blending in with the background. 3. Originally the photo looked great but i didn't have the vibrance and color balance it needed. At one point there was two much yellow so i used color balance to fix this. I also increased the vibrance in order to get rid of the more dull parts of the bracelets.

My subject was my Grandmother's Bocce Ball set. I chose this object because it is represents my family a lot and it has been passed down for several generations.

My subject is a rose and I decided to choose that as my image because when I was younger, my late grandmother would always cut my sisters and I roses for us from her garden

The lighting was mainly natural lighting, and I happened to stumble upon it during a walk and it inspired me to submit it as my image

I slightly altered the lighting of the image, the curves, the levels, and the background.

I chose this subject because for me it really expresses the theme family heritage! The Marigolds represent my hispanic side and the ways we honor our ancestors and family members that have passed on, and the Florida Water isn't only a cologne but in Caribbean culture is known as a protecting liquid.

The choices I made in positioning and lighting was to take this in front of the sunny trees in my backyard and make it so that the pattern of the Cologne went with the background but even though the Cologne pops with the background, their the same color scheme making the marigolds the center of attention!

The changes I made in photoshop was making the shades of green more vibrant, as well as making the flower most to the right the brughtest! Enhancing color, and detail :))
