Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation or any nation so conceived and so dedicated can long endure. We are met on a great battlefield of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field as a final resting-place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But in a larger sense, we cannot dedicate, we cannot consecrate, we cannot hallow this ground. The brave men, living and dead who struggled here have consecrated it far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living rather to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced.          <description><![CDATA[<p>IRONY: Although it wasn't written to be ironic, "the world will little note nor long remember what we say here..." is now dramatic irony, as we know something the audience of the time (and even the writer) did not know--this is one of the most famous speeches in American history and we certainly DO remember/note what he said. Lincoln's words were more powerful than he could have imagined.</p>]]></description>

This is great for connecting with the audience because he brings the audience to the same level as himself.</p><p><br/></p><p>Further, he connects with the intended audience because he relates his speech to the nation's core values, as mentioned in the quote above.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>"Conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing that nation, or any nation so conceived so dedicated can long endure."  </p><p>Is a great example of logos because it shows the audience that a nation can have a hope but at some point there will be dividing factors that pull apart that nation  and a fight for what the dividing factors want then. It also puts the feeling of even in a perfect world at some point challenges would come.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>"That the nation shall have a new birth of freedom, and that the government of the people, by the people, for the people" </p><p><br/></p><p>Is an example of repetition using "people" to show what the government really is for. Not those who run it or higher up in the government, but it was made for the people and they should do what's best for the people of it then.</p>]]></description>
