         <description><![CDATA[<div>Why was the devil testing Jesus in the first place?<br>-As people look to the bible for answers for how to act (thus WWJD), the temptation of Jesus is an example of how man, as Jesus was 100% man and one who could feel hunger, can turn away from temptations.<br><br>-&nbsp; Hebrews 2:17 For this reason he had to be made like them, fully human in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people.<br><br>-Jesus had to be tempted to be able to begin his ministry, having experienced humanity in such a way<br><br>- In referencing the period of 40 days* that has, in the bible, established itself to refer to a period of trial or judgement, Jesus's temptation could be a test before he began his ministry&nbsp;<br><br>-It is ironic that the devil plays into God's plan and through his attempts to tear down Jesus instead glorifies Jesus and his blameless and pure holiness.&nbsp;<br><br>*40 days of rain to destroy the earth<br>40 Days Moses was on Mount Sinai<br>40 Days Moses interceded for Israel's behalf<br>49 Days Goliath taunted Saul's Army<br>40 Days Elijah travelled after fleeing from Jezebel<br>40 years where Moses spent in the desert after murdering the Egyptian<br>40 years the Israelites roamed&nbsp;<br><br></div>]]></description>
