JOURNAL WRITING: Chinese school graduate are not fluent in Malay

Language reflect nation. What is the language of the Malaysian nation? The largest Malaysian race consists of Malays, Chinese and Indians. It is enshrined in Article 152 of the Constitution that Malay is the official language, the national language. The Education Act 1963 and 1967 also raised Malay as the national language. This means, the Malay language is not the language of the Malay race but is the language of the Malaysian race. The question is, are all citizens fluent in Malay? The study of Nora’azian Nahar and Fadzilah Abd. Rahman from the Faculty of Education, Universiti Putra Malaysia on 414 students of national type schools (SJK) in the Kuantan district found that 55.7 percent are still not fluent in Malay. If in SJK the level of Malay speaking skills is less than 50 percent, is it possible that this percentage will increase in universities and the employment sector?
Taking the example of Indonesia, all its citizens are fluent in Indonesian despite having various ethnicities and races. Why does this not happen in Malaysia which also has many races? It is even more strange when the Chinese who are in any country around the world can be fluent in the national language of the country they occupy. Why can't they speak Malay in Malaysia when it is the national language? It is very embarrassing when the word Malaysia appears on the citizenship space on their identity cards. How can they claim to be Malaysians but reject the national language?
All citizens must be able to fully master the Malay language, only then can unity be achieved. This does not mean that Malaysians cannot master other languages. It is not wrong to maintain the ethnic values of a nation by maintaining the mother tongue but not to sacrifice the national language.
The government needs to have political determination to ensure that Malay is the only language that is elevated to the highest level. Why can Japanese, Korean and Chinese keep moving forward by using their languages? Although their people know English but they will not use it because of the high nature of nationalism.
In conclusion, to ensure that all Malaysians are fluent in Malay, there must be enforcement from the government. The government needs to be smart in tackling the problem of vernacular schools. The 17th phase of the Education Act 1996 should be abolished. Next, the nature of nationalism of identity among the Malaysian race must be applied so that the country's independence achieved for more than half a century is more meaningful.
As citizens, we should elevate the national language to the highest level. Malay is the official language of Malaysia, not the language of the Malays.

With the holidays we were able to spend time together after each was tired in their careers. Holidays can also strengthen family ties and relieve stress.
But being able to see my parent's smiles is the most exciting thing for me when on a picnic with the family.

Apart from that, when my family and I want to go on a picnic, definitely my mother and sisters will be busy in the kitchen preparing various foods to take on a picnic. Usually, my mother will prepare our favorite menu which is "Ikan Keli sambal" it is very tasty. I was so happy to see them together preparing food in the kitchen. In the meantime, I helped my father check the car and helped him wash the car.
Usually, our family would have a picnic by the beach. On the beach, the thing that makes me happy is playing kites and playing catch-up with my siblings. For me, a picnic is a very exciting thing and makes me often look forward to every weekend.
I have loads of love for my family, I hope our family will always be happy even though my dad has passed away two years ago.
JOURNAL WRITING: School Sport's Day

School session is formal education and had been founded for ages. Every single child or teenager deserve to get this precious chance and normally a person studies in his whole life and there is no limit for us to study about everything But in my lovely country Malaysia, we have a rule which states that every child must go to school from the ages of seven years old until seventeen years old to produce a lot of successors who will lead our country in the future. Nowadays, so many students archive to obtain brilliant results and the chance to be the best among the best becomes harder and harder. Even a genius student finds it's tough to get a great job or a place in any university if he is not good at sport. The best alternative to solve this critical matter is by being involved in co-curriculum activities such as the sport's day.

The sport's day, which is an annual activity, has a lot of benefits even though most of the students don't enjoy it so much. My beloved school Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Al-Ihsan also never neglects this compulsory activity. I am pretty sure that everybody has an experience in sport's day. For me, I had experienced eight joyful sports days as I am twenty right now.

The best sports day I have ever had is my seventh sport's day which was organized last year. On the date, my excellent school had organized a marvelous sport's day. Now I still remember everything about the amazing day. A month before the annual sport's day, our school's management had planned carefully any single thing about our sport's day. Puan Hidayati, who is my favorite teacher, was the one behind all of these things as she made a superb excellent preparation for sport's day. She and the other teachers had decorated and organized our sport's day with flying colors

During that day, we had to gather around at the huge school field. The scenery was so incredible. I also lent my hands to the teachers to build many giant tents. Everything was decorated with balloons, flags, and colorful ribbons. Everybody felt so anxious like having a butterfly in their stomach to see which team will win this sport's day. I hoped that my team, which is Laksamana, will win

The sport's day started at seven o'clock in the morning with the marching parade of all houses. This exciting event took an hour to be finished but I felt it just happened in a flash. Sadly, I did not take part in this opening event. After that, Tuan Haji Mohammad Majdan, who is my principal gave his speech to the students and parents who were attending the sport's day. As usual, her speech was so long and full of information. Previously, my team, Laksamana won the marching event and I felt very happy as a king

Then, the 100 meters race started before the 200 meters and 400 meters. In the 100 meters, Irsyad who is my best friend also took part in this game representing his team, Satria. The situation was as noisy as everybody cheered for their team My team was expected to win this event because we had Irsyad who is a state-level runner.

Teacher's Day is special in our school. It is not only celebrated in our school but all the schools in Malaysia. All the students in my school look forward to it every year. We take the opportunity to thank our teachers for all that they have done for us and show them our appreciation on Teacher's Day

There are no classes on that day because it is a day for the teachers to rest. We would normally have an assembly in the morning. The school principal will deliver her/his speech and thank the teachers for their contributions and dedication to the school and students. The Head Prefect would then present his speech to thank the principal and all our teachers on behalf of all the students in the school.

During the assembly, every teacher is called to come up on the stage and the class monitor will present their class teacher with a bouquet of roses. The bouquet of roses is a token of appreciation from the students to their teachers. It is a nice gesture that the entire teacher appreciates. Some teachers hug their students after receiving the flowers. After that, the Head Prefect will ask all the students to give a thundering round of applause to all the teachers at the end of his speech. All the students are usually very excited and could not wait for the assembly to be over because there will be games and class parties after that.

After the assembly, everyone will go to the school field to either join or watch the tile matches. between the teachers and the students. Usually, the students will win but everyone enjoys the spirit of taking part in the matches. The tile matches are organized by the school perfectly with the help of the Physical Education teachers. There are musical chairs, gunny sack running competitions, passing. the ball, and many other interesting games. It is fun to watch the teachers letting down their hair and getting themselves dirty in the field. At the end of the tile matches, prizes are given to the winners.

After the games, everyone will return to their classes for the class parties. The class monitor would normally organize the class party. We would usually have cakes, sandwiches, fried) noodles, fried chicken, coleslaw, mashed potatoes. jelly, fresh fruit, and drinks. Everyone loves class parties because it is a rare occasion. Some students will also present their class teachers with gifts such as flowers, greeting cards, chocolates, souvenirs, stationary or decorative items during the class party. These gifts reflect the love and respect for the teachers by their students. Usually, at the end of the day there be will a photo-taking session. It is truly a memorable day for students as well as teachers.

In short, teachers are important in students' lives. They work hard to ensure that we would excel in our studies. They are like our mentors who always support and encourage us. Teachers are also very patient. They never seem to give up hope on us. They always put a smile on our faces. Although Teacher's Day is only celebrated once a year, we should show our gratitude to our teachers every day of the year.
