We define curriculum as as the basis of what will be studied in school. This includes content, resources available, learning standards, lessons, units, assignments, and projects.

• What meanings and feelings come to mind when you think about assessment?

Assessment to us is defined as taking an pen and paper exam as that is what we were used to. When we think about assessments we often correlate it with anxiety and disappointment.

• Of all the things in the world, what must you teach?

We think we must teach social justice and socio-emotional skills. When we talk about cultivating joy and genius of our students we need to teach them about their peer's cultures and those around the world. As well as proper way to manage emotions and communicate effectively.

• Which curricular stories, topics, or teachings do you wish you would have learned in your PreK-12 curriculum?

We wish that we would have had more opportunities to learn more about life skills and about world history. We feel that there is so much out there that we missed out on because of the focus on Standardized testing.

• What is a metaphor to represent the goals of curriculum, instruction, and assessment? Describe why you chose it.

We chose the metaphor "the curriculum is like a puzzle." We think this because with a puzzle you have to start somewhere and build up from there. With curriculum you start from zero and if scaffolding is done well you build up as well.
