I have always wanted to ride the train all by myself. I've seen children smaller than me do it. From the movies at least. But nevertheless, it looks fun and adventurous. But there's just one teeny weeny problem.

My parents.

They are so overprotective over their children. And me being the eldest does help at all. I had to beg for days to let me go on a train ride on my own. My motive? To get to my grandmother's house in Kuala Lumpur to meet my cousins.

They finally let me go on my own after days of pleading and begging. I actually had to do extra house chores just to get their attention. It amazes me to see the amount of hardwork I put in to achieve something that has little significance in my life. I wish I would have done the same when I am studying. *sigh*

My parents briefed me plenty of times over what to do and which station I need to get off. I wasn't listening that well as I was very excited to ride a train on my own. I could finally tick it off my bucket list. They helped me to buy my ticket and said goodbye as I went beyond the metal electronic gates. I sat and smiled while waiting for the train to arrive.

As usual, public transports in Malaysia are never punctual. But I quickly got inside and sat down. I looked around and saw quite a number of people. Some were asleep, a few were reading and some just stares at the window, hoping that their day could get better. hahah just kidding. i'm very sure they had a wonderful day.

Anyways, it was already half an hour into my journey and I started to feel a little uneasy. My bladder's acting up. Take note that I was 11 at the time and had not master the art of pee control. So, I got out at the next station and brought along my bag. I couldn't believe that I had to pay to use the toilet. If I was the ruler of Malaysia I would never let that happen.

I finished my business and went out to see that the train had left. "It's okay." , I thought. I looked at the schedule to check what time would the next train arrive. 10 minutes it said. I did not believe it at all. "Could be late again." I thought. So I waited.

I barely waited 5 minutes and my stomach was already growling. I was a big eater back then, with the soon-to-be-teenage hormones and such. I looked at the clock again and head towards a stall outside of the station. I did not realise that I took too much time buying foods that I had to run inside the train. Gasping for air, with banana fritters in my hand, I looked for an empty seat and sat quietly.

I arrived in KL Sentral about 40 minutes later and changed trains towards Keramat station.

Boy was I glad to meet my grandparents and cousins in the house. Overall, I thought that I did pretty good. It was a fun and exciting experience for me, an eleven year old me.
