Creating another companion for the desolate beast could provide a means of pacification. Throughout the novel, all of the creature's shortcomings have been due to his search for happiness. Whether it be Felix's vicious attack after stalking the cottagers, or Frankenstein sticking his hand into the seemingly warm fire only to experience pain. All of these issues could have been prevented had the creature been content. To prevent further problems from arising, the only logical approach is to satisfy the creature's demands. Maybe you should negotiate with terrorists.

On the other hand, it doesn't take much analysis to see why Frankenstein would want to remain firm against the monster's wishes. After all, the monster murdered close members of Frankenstein's family. Why on Earth would Frankenstein want to further his own suffering.
