I like this style for its bright and unique colour combinations. The way people are drawn and represented also adds to a more visually intresting image

My keywords revolve around curiosity, curiosity and connection. These experiemental styles are visually intresting and often piques my curiosity on how that outcome was achieved. The abstract nature of the image style also plays towards my passion for inclusive design. These images are also able to make lasting impact and connection within user mind due to its unique style.

Using shapes and colours to communicate makes it more inclusive as it isnt confine to a specific demographic.

Equity and equality are some of my key words, this style embraces difference and uniqueness a characteristic we should all have.

I like this style for its unique use of typography and patterns to create impactful imagery. The elements use also gives the image a kinetic feel.

Curiosity, playfulness, and professionalism were the key words that laid the foundation for the imagery created. I wanted to create an evocative image that juxtaposed between my curious and playful nature all the while still highlighting my ability to be professional and tackle serious problems.

Curiosity, playfulness, and professionalism were the key words that laid the foundation for the imagery created. I wanted to create an evocative image that juxtaposed between my curious and playful nature all the while still highlighting my ability to be professional and tackle serious problems. 

The direction relied heavily on props such as dinosaur lights and a formal suit to visually communicate the opposing connotation associated with the items.

Interactive Meaning: The image is shot utilising a medium frame to maintain a level of approachability and sociability. This clearly defines the relationship I want to have with my clients in a professional context. The direct eye contact immediately engages and demands the audience attention. This contact is at eye-level with the audience, effectively communicating an equal relationship.

Editing: The image edits were done to subdue the intensity brough out by the dinosaur lights which overpowered the theme of professionalism.

Lighting: The lighting illuminates one side of my face and creates an instant focaliser within the image. This focal point is also reinforced through the light strip which wraps around my neck, creating natural vector lines that act as a support.

Reflection: With the image relying on a paradigmatic relationship between the props, it would have been much more effective to make the existence of the dinosaur lights more noticeable. Their association with each other to create meaning is essential to communicate the narrative.

The locations are represented through a longitude and latitude value, all connected to one another. Their connection to one another signifies a butterfly affect, in which every event, action and choice are interconnected and has occurred for a reason. Besides the locations sits composites of the original image that highlight my physical features. Centralised and contained within the bounds of the other location is the complete image with the location of my birthplace. It was the location of my beginning and the first experience I had in life. Everything else could only happen because of my birth, which is why it positioned in the centre. The composite images symbolise a give and take relationship, in which I have given apart of myself to the place, whilst also taking on a new part of myself.

The text which overlays the centre image are variations of my name. This was included as it showcases how me being one person can have various names. With each variation slight changes to my personality in real-life could be observed, as nicknames are an indication of closeness in my mind. 

The other texts positioned opposite to each other are representative of the opposite worlds in which I’ve lived. Cambodia is a third-world country, whereas Australia is a first-world country, these differences in environment form my nationality and contributes strongly to my identity.

Reflection: Initially I found myself trying to incorporate to many elements which ended up making the image very crowded and hard to understand. The process leading up to my final map taught me that often less is more. With proper intent and understanding in composition, the effectiveness of an image can greatly be enhance to create lasting impact and convey a message. 

When designing the logo, I was conscious in staying between the lines of too playful and too corporate. Therefore, the identity I created was an approachable yet professional fusion, that highlighted both themes. 

As a designer I want to be able to tackle serious problems but also have opportunities to engage with my passions and express myself creatively. In my perspective it is also extremely fulfilling to have your name be acknowledged as a great designer amongst your community. In saying this, my logo will be centred around my name or initials.

The initial sketches focused on typeface, whether that be a blocky text, cursive, or sans serif etc. After various exploration I settled for a blocky typeface to create immediate impact when being seen. It boldness also makes it much more functional/legible for overlaying it over photographs and imagery.

With screens becoming smaller and a digital presence being increasingly important, I made it a priority to create a Logo Mark that could stand alone and still convey my brand. This lead me to explore forms and shapes that would resonate with the key themes. I wanted to stick with shapes in particular as they are inclusive and can create interesting compositions. After various combinations I create a form that stemmed from my initials “R.S”. 

The logo mark can be broken down into two elements; the “r” is created through the rectangle and the circle, the “s” is created through the two-rectangle sitting at the bottom. The logo utilises the principle of closure and similarity to create a holistic feel. It also relies on proximity to allow viewers to associate the relevant shapes to see the abstracted form of each letter.. The form uses rounded edges to soften the shape and make it appear much more approachable. This contrast well with the type face, as it can soften the harshness/boldness of the “Bebas” font.
