This means organizing one's own learning (time management and information gathering), recognizing one's own learning strategies, learning in groups as well as individually, learning the processes and needs, processing and assimilating new knowledge and skills in a variety of contexts, making use of guidance and reflecting your learning. Really crucial for learning is to be motivated and to be confident.
Today I've been thinking again why I'm so badly ill to express myself in another language ... but that's unimportant now. The point is that I have transferred all of my thoughts that I summarized yesterday (communication and support of international activities) today and developed the following ideas for myself that are transferable to the learning of our students. I am really motivated to expand my french greatly, because I would like to communicate better with our exchange program partners and I really really want to come back in the Caribbean!!! (everything really meaningful for me) I also like this form of day reflection very much. I would like to write a kind of learning diary. Driving through the great offer of Ana to come to the Azores and taking part in her french lessons will give me the opportunity to learn how to learn elsewhere. I just have browsed through my newly acquired Caribbean cookbook and also picked up a few new words. 
The most impressive thing to conclude: the place where you learn is also very important and I think a better place than to sit in a hot tub in the rainforest there is not... but we will see.

It was not too warm, but the air was extremely humid. I guess it's not called "rain forest" without a reason ;-)

What I noticed was, that lots of plants grow there. And they don't just grow next to each other - they grow on top of each other, left and right - there were plants on plants on plants... I was able to count over 10 different plants growing on a single tree. Today in the rainforest I was being made aware of how different and at the same time how similar life can be. Being overwhelmed by this fantastic forest as it is not familiar to us but at the same time everybody is longing for a hot bath and feeling like home. 
This learning diary also becomes very important to me, as this daily reflection helps me to remember and see the progress and change of myself. 

The meeting at the school was very exciting and I found myself being very confident that this exchange will happen, although there are still many questions and uncertainties. I will do all I can to make it succeed and even if it does not happen I have done everything without any remorse.
