         <description><![CDATA[<p>    Chinese culture is often portrayed as one of the world’s oldest and most continuous civilizations, characterized by its rich heritage, deep-rooted traditions, and emphasis on harmony. While this image serves as a source of national pride and international recognition, it also risks simplifying a complex and evolving cultural reality. In the context of globalisation and intercultural exchange, the idea of "Chinese culture" has become both a unifying symbol and a contested site of identity negotiation.</p><p>    At its core, Chinese culture is shaped by philosophical systems like Confucianism and Daoism, collective rituals such as family worship and festival celebrations, and expressive forms like calligraphy, cuisine, and traditional clothing. These elements are not just static artifacts of the past — they carry living meanings that continue to influence values, social relations, and personal identity. Yet, in today’s global media landscape, cultural representation is often filtered through selective narratives, sometimes reduced to symbols like pandas, kung fu, or red lanterns. Such images can offer accessibility but may also flatten internal diversity and regional variation within Chinese culture.</p><p>    As a student living between local roots and global flows, I find myself both identifying with and questioning the ways Chinese culture is defined and consumed. Cultural expression is no longer only about preservation; it is also about reinterpretation. To engage meaningfully with cultural identity today requires not just pride in one’s heritage, but critical awareness of how culture is represented, who speaks for it, and how it evolves. Chinese culture, in this sense, is less a fixed category than a dialogic process — one that invites constant participation, negotiation, and reimagination.</p>]]></description>
