Here are a few additional career seeker tips for former justice involved:

• Pass the drug screening and any additional screening required outside of the criminal BG screen.

• Have a valid ID and/or Driver’s License (Preferably drivers’ license. Most background friendly careers are in transportation, delivery, and distribution).

General Career Seeker Tips:

• Keep your resume updated, well-formatted, and ready to share at any time.

• Start your resume with a clearly defined and compelling career objective.

• Avoid using auto-generated resumes from job platforms (employers really value candidates who create customized resumes that highlight their unique skills and experiences.

• Track your applications by jotting down the organizations, positions, and brief descriptions of each role so you are prepared when an Employer follows up.

• Ensure your voicemail greeting is professional, as it creates a positive first impression.

• Prepare for interviews by practicing Mock Interviews across formats: phone, virtual, and in-person. The MORE you practice, the more confident you become.

• Approach every opportunity with confidence and positive vibes.

Here’s what we have planned:

Monday – Opposite Day
Teachers dress as students & students dress as teachers

Tuesday – Trail Ride
Dress in Trail Ride Gear (shorts must be knee length)

Wednesday – 80’s Day (Grads Only)
Show off your totally awesome 80’s outfits. Graduates will have an off-campus event.  All remaining students will receive directive from their teacher.

Thursday – Rep Your School
Wear your Excel Center colors—green and navy blue

Let’s make this a week full of excitement, connection, and school spirit. We encourage everyone to participate, have fun, and represent the Excel Center with pride!
