The Civil Rights Act of 1875 was intended to guarantee all people in the United States to be "entitled to the full and equal enjoyment" of all public places and facilities despite what race they were. In other words, ban segregation. However, this law was not passed. The supreme court ruled this unconstitutional. If it were to be passed, it would have had a very positive effect on the African Americans, but it was not so they continued to face hardships. It was not until almost 100 years later, in 1964, that this Civil Rights Act to ban segregation finally became a law.

This wasn't passed due to the presence of Andrew Johnsone who vetoed the bill. This effected African Americans by allowing more unfair treatment without consequence giving white racist free reign to do what they wanted to.
