Think about the first time you experienced a new food. Where were you, what food was it, how did trying this new food affect the way you think about trying new things? Write a story to show what it was like to try something for the first time, and reflect on what you learned about trying new foods. Be sure to use descriptive details to show what this experience means to you.

                                                                                                                                                            Sushi

       School had just ended and now it was summer. I couldn’t wait to just eat all the chips at our house but then my parents told me we were going somewhere. When I heard this I groaned for I was a lazy person who did not want to go anywhere. I had to change my cloths and go in the car and wait for my parent’s. I asked where we are going but they told it was a surprise. I took about 20 minutes to get there but soon we came to a building that look like a bunch of rectangles merged together. I looked over and saw a huge sign that said Tokyo House. We parked and got out. I asked my parents where we are they said we are at a restaurant. I was a picky eater so going to a restaurant was a bad decision. 

       

       As we entered I was hit with the smell of soy sauce and other types of food. As we entered I noticed there was a sushi bar but at the point I did not know what sushi was. As the waitress led us to our table I took in my surroundings. There a bunch of huge fans and I saw a lot desserts is was also quite loud in the restaurant. As we sat down at our table my mom told me to follow me and told me to get a plate. I soon found where the plates were but I noticed that there were some huge metal pots that reminded me of huge buckets. I took the granite like plate and went to my mom. She told me to pick out which food I want and put them on my plate. As I walked around the area I saw some strange yet delicious food everywhere. I took things that I was familiar to like crispy tempura fried shrimp and took some golden noodles. I then went back to our table.

       I saw my dad was back and that he some strange looking food on his plate. They looked like rice in a circle that had some sort of pink meat in it and avocado to. I looked at my dad with a confused face and asked him what he had on his plate. He told me he got a food called sushi. He told me I got get some of the sushi if I wanted. I was hesitant because it was a new food but I took still. I looked weird to me it had some sort of crunchy layer to it but the rest looked kind of soft or mushy. I popped it in my mouth and started to chew. I tasted amazing! I could instantly tell that the meat was crab but then there was avocado and the crunchy layer gave it a new twist or layer for it was not only soft but crunchy too! I took more from my dads plate. Some of them are spicy but some of them were sweet and other inbetween. I was so happy that I tried them. My dad got some more and gave them to me and ate them all in a flash.

        I begged my parents to take some more food or bring some for takeout. My parents were surprised that I wanted more food because usually I would just throw away most of the food but this time I didn’t. They said they would take some and they did. As we went home I was happy I tried something new. I bet if I hadn't I would never try sushi at all and never taste the goodness that is sushi. When we arrived at home I took the bag out of the car and went into my room and ate all of the sushi and I even add some soy sauce to it to. My parents found the remains on my bed.

       I am happy I tried sushi which was a new food for me at the time. Sushi is know one of my favorite foods of all time which is quite hard to get on. New foods are a great experience even if you don’t like it you can say you tried. It’s even better if you find something that you liked or even love. I am still hesitant about trying new foods or new things but in the ned I try to do it. I am still a picky eater all the way through and most of the time will never be willing to try something new but I will try to try it. That is my story about me trying a new food that I know love with all my heart and if I could eat it all they I would.       

                 

     The bell had just rung and I knew it was time for math class. I groaned for I knew that I would have to here complaining about our teacher like I did every other day. As I entered the room, I saw Mr. Guzel standing next to the door. Turned to read the white board to see what we were doing and then I saw it. My heart stopped for a few seconds. I whispered quietly “group project”. I started to think as I walked to my desk that this was terrible. When it came to a group project, we had to form into teams of 4 but after you do that, they choose one person to do all the work and the rest copied from you. The last two group projects had not gone well I was chosen both times to be the victim of doing all the work.

     As soon as I sat down Mr. Guzel told everyone about the project. I swallowed a lump in my throat and looked around to see how where the other 3 people I had to team up with. In the end I teamed up with my friend Andy, Alan, and Kyle. Andy was friend Alan was an acquaintance and Kyle well, all I knew about him was that he was a trouble maker. I looked at the board to see what the project was and about triangle. “Well that seems easy enough” I thought to myself. Mr. Guzel gave us all a random triangle to make a project about. I looked at the card and on it was written equilateral triangle. As I looked up from the card, I saw I was alone. Then, it dawned on me I had to do the project while the rest got to do who knows what. I made a strange yell mixed with a high-pitched noise in frustration. 

     Knowing I would have to get on doing this project so I don’t fail, I got onto the chrome book and started to research. While all this was happening, I noticed all the others where talking to other people and laughing while I was working. I was obviously angry but they didn’t notice this. Finally, I went over to and angrily said, “Hey guys do you want to help me or do you want a F!” I said to them. I knew what Kyles reaction would be. Kyle shrugged me off while Andy was pulled away and Alan ignored me. I was angry but gave up in the end. 

     I turned in the project and to Mr.Guzel. When I was about to walk away Mr. Guzel asked me why my name was the only name on there. I told him that I did all the work while the rest of them did nothing. He told me go back to my seat. I was expecting that we would get A’s but when he gave me back the project I their A on there and a little note. The note read (You got an A expect for the rest of them). I was confused at first but then I understood. I made sure I was not smiling but, on the inside, I was incredibly happy.
