My question is that how exactly would you correctly use visuals as part of your information or example?

I also learned that it's important to include 3 examples but no mas because you don't want to kill your reader with too many examples but you just at least want to get to the main point out with enough info. I'm not really getting it though, is the synthesis essay more effective if you use your sources on a more personal note or is it more information based?

1. You can use a visual by first understanding that every visual you will be presented DOES contain an argument. Once you understand the argument, then you can use the author's argument just like every other source. You will obviously have to paraphrase the author's argument, but then you will cite it.
2. You will cite your sources using MLA format. "This is what the author said" (Author Name). OR "This is what else the author said" (Source A). Make sure you use the same format for paraphrasing: What the author really said (Source A). You will only CITE or summarize the specific part of the source which applies to your clam.
3. An effective attention-getter for the introduction is imagery. If you can work an image into your introduction, your introduction is already leaps and bound above all the other which contain rhetorical questions, pieces of the prompt, or just background information.
4. You can most definitely use literary elements (rhetorical devices) in these essays.
5. This is different from an argument essay ONLY in that you must use at least three of the provided sources instead of your examples/proof coming from your brain.

I will continue to try to answer your questions here and in class!
