Haleener then becomes distressed and begins calling out for her mother. A stranger then comes into the room with toys and after a very short period of time she approaches the stranger. These actions display that the child Haener has strong trust people that she in unfamiliar with. This can also demonstrate that Haener is an independent child nor is she shy.

Whilst conducting online placement through observing videos, I could see that these children were showing many signs of a child’s cognitive development. Jean Piaget's theory of cognitive development suggests that children move through four different stages of mental development. Piaget’s theory focuses not only on understanding how children acquire knowledge, but also on understanding the nature of intelligence.

Although all survived, this did leave ben undernourished and fighting for he’s life for the next 5 months after birth. Ben is significantly smaller than he’s siblings and needs the extra attention from he’s parents. Therefore, his bath time with his sibling can become very chaotic and not so much relaxing. The children all play with their bath toys such as ‘rubber duckies’ whilst getting clean. They then hop out of the bath and are each towel dried and changed into their pyjamas ready for bed.

Whilst conducting my online placement through observing children through short videos, I managed to understand toddlers/children aged between 0-2-year-old a lot more this was mostly understood by the use of the ‘sensorimotor stage’ through Piaget’s theory. I now know after completing my online virtual placement there is a lot of learning out there for the children, other learning that is possible is included in many of the theorist own theories. My question at the beginning states, why is it that some children become afraid of stranger and yet others feel comfortable and confident with strangers? Does this have to do with their upbringing or is it imbedded from their own personality? I now know the that children are only scared of strangers at first although they can quickly become comfortable with someone new once they warm up to them, this is shown through the video ‘life at one’ in the strangers experiment when a child is left alone in a room with a stranger and the stranger shows the child some toys and the child quickly stops crying and soon becomes happy and content again. I believe this can have to do with both the child’s upbringing although it can also be imbedded in their personality.

Outcome 1: Children have a strong sense of identity

Children feel safe, secure, and supported: this is also displayed throughout the video ‘life at 1’ as the infants all feel safe when with their parents displaying that they are secure and supported.

Outcome 4: Children are confident and involved learners

Children resource their own learning through connecting with people, place, technologies and natural and processed materials: this is true for infants as they learn through their own parents, grandparents and educators. This can be shown greatly through ‘life at 1’ as the children are developing from what they learn at home.

Outcome 5: children are effective communicators

Children interact verbally and non-verbally with others for a range of purposes: this is displayed throughout ‘life at 1’ one example is when Haener interacts with a stranger and at first begins to cry for her mother but then settles when the stranger shows Haener toys.
