Yes, I took that from the Constitution, but it's important to remember what the purpose of America was when it was founded. Multiculturalism is an important aspect of being an American.
Edit: I think that traditions, rituals, knowledge and stories are a huge part of being an American. To me, I think it means freedom, and choice. I think of the many problems that plague America. And I think of the ability to stand up for the disenfranchised in ways that are impossible to do in other countries. I think of capitalism, and excess everything, and I think of how history shaped The way people interact with the world around them and how it shapes the choices that Americans  make.
