With the help of these legacies, transcendentalism teaches people to model themselves after nature by emphasizing its five tenets- seeking of truth, individualism and goodness of man, rejection of traditional establishment, involvement in social reform, and a return to nature and simplicity- in order to influence them to become more self reliant individuals who, in turn, are able to fully and positively contribute to society.
