They both realize how different everything could be if they chose each other's path of life and appear envious of each other. We parallel between one conversation of them as children/preteens and one conversation between them in their 30s/40s.

 The goal: Even if everything plans out as you want it to, you will always find flaws in your life if you compare with others. The only way to be truly happy is if you stop comparing yourself to others.

Tone: Light and vibrant when they're young (childhood/looking forward to the future) 
Less vibrant, more sorrow in the scene where they're older (they're not as happy as they thought they would be)

His past has lead him to the point where he sees no other option than to rob a bank in order to survive. His rough past flashes in front of him right before he enters the bank and after he "robs" the bank the scene changes into him walking away.

the goal: in every point of your life you have got a lot of options and every one of those choices make you who you are today.
