*Story 2: Love and Loss (5‘30‘‘)

[상황] My second story is about love and loss. I was lucky — I found what I loved to do early in life. Woz and I started Apple in my parents’ garage when I was 20. We worked hard, and in 10 years Apple had grown from just the two of us in a garage into a $2 billion company with over 4000 employees.

[위기] We had just released our finest creation — the Macintosh — a year earlier, and I had just turned 30. And then I got fired. How can you get fired from a company you started? Well, as Apple grew we hired someone who I thought was very talented to run the company with me, and for the first year or so things went well. But then our visions of the future began to diverge and eventually we had a falling out. When we did, our Board of Directors sided with him. So at 30 I was out. And very publicly out. What had been the focus of my entire adult life was gone, and it was devastating. I really didn't know what to do for a few months. I felt that I had let the previous generation of entrepreneurs down — that I had dropped the baton as it was being passed to me. I met with David Packard and Bob Noyce and tried to apologize for screwing up so badly. I was a very public failure, and I even thought about running away from the valley. But something slowly began to dawn on me — I still loved what I did. The turn of events at Apple had not changed that one bit. I had been rejected, but I was still in love. And so I decided to start over.

[극복]I didn't see it then, but it turned out that getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life. During the next five years, I started a company named NeXT, another company named Pixar, and fell in love with an amazing woman who would become my wife. Pixar went on to create the world’s first computer animated feature film(장편 영화), Toy Story, and is now the most successful animation studio in the world. In a remarkable turn of events, Apple bought NeXT, I returned to Apple, and the technology we developed at NeXT is at the heart of Apple's current renaissance. And Laurene and I have a wonderful family together. I'm pretty sure none of this would have happened if I hadn't been fired from Apple. It was awful tasting medicine, but I guess the patient needed it.

[교훈]Sometimes life hits you in the head with a brick. Don't lose faith. I'm convinced that the only thing that kept me going was that I loved what I did. You've got to find what you love. And that is as true for your work as it is for your lovers. Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle.

Do you feel the pressure of having to study as exam season approaches?

When we think about studying, we usually begin by sitting down at our desks. However, just sitting for a long time does not lead to better grades. What truly matters is your attitude toward studying.

That is why I would like to explain the proper attitude for studying during exams, dividing it into two parts.

In school, it is crucial to listen attentively to the teacher, whose lessons often provide the basis for the exam questions. Students who concentrate fully on class activities, rather than getting distracted or falling asleep, tend to perform much better.

There are some students who do academy homework during school hours, which may seem productive, but in reality, it's not effective since the actual exams are usually based on what your school teachers teach.

When studying alone, you should concentrate solely on studying, avoiding distractions as much as possible.

I recommend writing a daily planner in which you list all the tasks you need to complete. Once your plan is clearly laid out, it creates a sense of responsibility that helps you stay focused.

Having set goals, and trying your best to complete them each day, not only boosts your efficiency but also builds discipline.

Lastly, let me share something from personal experience.

If I had not been overconfident without sufficient preparation, I could have maintained better grades. Unfortunately, there were times when I was complacent, believing I would do well simply because I had done well before. And only to realize that consistent effort is what truly matters.

So I strongly urge you: keep working hard until the very end, without becoming complacent.

Studying consistently with the right attitude is the key to effective and efficient exam preparation.

Do you know what jobs robots are currently used for? Let me tell you about the impact they will have on humans. Robots are machines that can perform certain tasks through programming and automatic control. Robots take over dangerous or repetitive jobs for humans, just as they are used for industrial, service, medical, and war purposes. For example, in Hyun dae construction, robots are used to build buildings, robots are used in factories that make semiconductors, and robots are used not only in this but also in other fields. Currently, robots are developing into artificial intelligence robots. In an interview with Dr. Lee Jang-woo, he said that personal robots will develop beyond industrial robots by the 2030s. In particular, he emphasized that humanoid robots in the form of humans will develop a lot. So, if you define them in one sentence, "Robots will resemble humans, and humans will resemble robots."

I am a judge. Witnessing unfair trials and seeing offenders receive punishments far too lenient for their crimes made me decide to pursue this path. I have dedicated myself to learning how to make sound and fair judgments, grounded in justice and integrity.

I feel a great sense of fulfillment when I am able to deliver appropriate punishment to those who commit wrongdoings. However, I also feel disappointed when I believe that the sentence handed down is too light to reflect the severity of the crime. In such moments, I remind myself of my original purpose and strive even harder to render better and fairer judgments.

My success has come from patience and perseverance. I have never given up, and step by step, I have come this far. Good judgment is the value I cherish most. I believe that a judge must go beyond simply applying the law; understanding people and society, and making decisions guided by conscience and careful consideration, is what defines the true path of a judge.

A trial can determine the course of a person's life—or even the lives of many. I always bear the weight of this responsibility in mind, knowing that I serve as the last safeguard for the rights and safety of the people. I strive to ensure that no one is left hurt or unjustly treated in the name of the law.

I will continue to embrace the changes in society and the diversity of values, and I will never stop studying to become a better judge whom the public can trust. As the law itself never stands still, neither should a judge. This is why I have made "never stop learning" my personal principle.

To me, being a judge is not simply an occupation—it is a calling to realize justice in society. I will never forget that behind every case is a human life. With this in mind, I am determined to remain a judge who is fair, principled, and compassionate.

As I became a high school student, I started drinking coffee and energy drinks because I was tired from sleeping late at night while doing homework and performance evaluations. As I drank a lot of these drinks, I became curious about energy drinks.

We looked into the positive effects that energy drinks have on our bodies. According to an American scientific journal, energy drinks contain antioxidants and vitamins that help prevent aging, and vitamins C, E, and serorepine help recover from fatigue. Therefore, it is helpful for people who work or study late at night. It is also a popular drink that high school and even middle school students drink like a beverage because it is not expensive.

However, there is a downside to this energy drink. Energy drinks help our bodies recover from fatigue and improve concentration in the short term, but they are not good in the long term. If you drink energy drinks, you can suffer from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), fatigue, and insomnia, and these symptoms can occur even if you drink one or two glasses a day. In addition, since glucose is the main additive, it can cause diabetes, and since it contains a lot of caffeine, it can cause acute heart failure.

Energy drinks that give us carrots and sticks, eating carrots may make you feel good for a while, but the scars from the sticks do not easily disappear over time. If you think about the negative aspects, wouldn't it be better not to drink energy drinks? When you're tired, drink a glass of ice water to wake up.

How many hours do you sleep a day? If you feel tired often, it may be due to sleep. So, I have two reasons why you should get enough sleep. My topic is why you need to get enough sleep.

First, dementia. Waste generated by the brain's activity during the day is discharged from the brain only after a deep night's sleep. However, if you don't get enough sleep, the waste won't get out of your brain, which can lead to dementia. Less sleep can lead to poor cognitive ability and poor memory, which can worsen symptoms of dementia.

Secondly, I have a short temper. According to actual research, if you sleep less, your personality is likely to turn into a hot-tempered person. If you don't get enough sleep, fatigue can lead to our mood and cause negative thoughts and a lot of irritation.

So far, we've seen why you need to get enough sleep. Health is the most important thing in life, so I hope you get enough sleep

Do you know that making money is not all about economic activity?

Today, I'm going to talk about ways to effectively manage the money you earn.

First of all, it's important to write a plan, which is to write a consumption plan. It's good to write on paper, and you can write it anywhere using digital devices. For example, in the 'Toss' application, which students use a lot these days, you can see your own consumption trends by dividing your consumption by types such as 'food expenses', 'leisure', and 'transportation'.

Also, making extra income can be a way to manage your income. Pay attention to activities that can make extra income, such as deposits, installment savings, and stocks.

For this, it is also important to look at the recent economic trends.

Now in 2025, at an economic lecture at COEX in Seoul, Steve Bryce, SC Group's chief investment strategist, said, "Lower expected returns, focus on diversified investment."

Remember, earning a fixed income is not all about economic activity, and you should manage your income efficiently.

Have you ever thought that AI, which was created for the convenience of humans, could harm people? First, what are the basic principles of AI? According to our country's Ministry of Science, Technology, and Information and Communication, AI should basically follow the principle of human dignity, the principle of public good of society, and the principle of the purposefulness of technology. Then, how would AI answer the philosophical question of whether a train, called the trolley dilemma, should hit five people or change the tracks to hit one person instead? When I asked ChatGPT directly, the answer was "I reserve." The reason was that AI basically helps humans make choices, but it cannot directly determine choices, and it cannot directly judge human life. What if AI is developed for the purpose of killing? First, according to the UN's law on autonomous robots, autonomous robots with the purpose of killing should not be developed. If AI is developed for the purpose of killing, what would happen if that AI appeared in a densely populated civilian area? AI is as useful as fire, but it can also be as dangerous as fire, so careful efforts are needed to create laws and regulate it.

Guys...

there's a way to go from short legs to long legs...

would you like to hear about it?

It's called the Taller Nutrient!

Let's talk about nutraceuticals:

First, the principle of nutraceuticals is to support growth hormone secretion or provide nutrients for bone growth. Growth hormone plays an important role in stimulating bone chondrocytes to lengthen bones, and nutrients provide the building blocks of bone. Among them, amino acids stimulate growth hormone secretion, vitamin D helps with calcium absorption, and vitamin K increases bone strength. These are the nutrients that help you grow taller.

So the “nutrient effect” is pretty much meaningless. To date, no nutrient has been scientifically proven to increase height (because while there are nutrients that help you grow taller, there are no nutrients that make you grow taller).

And let's not forget about the “side effects” of nutritional supplements. There are three: excessive calcium intake can lead to kidney stones, which can strain kidney function, and excessive zinc intake can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain.

Finally, you may develop allergies to certain ingredients. After all, supplements that are supposed to make you taller don't actually make you taller, they just help release growth hormone or provide nutrients for bone growth. And if you take too much, it can actually overwhelm your body and weaken it.

Sleep deprivation decreases the hormone that makes us feel full and increases the hormone that stimulates appetite. This can lead to overeating and may become a cause of high blood pressure or heart disease.

With the development of technology in the modern society, people are living too comfortably and their health is getting worse because it is a world where people can be solved by pressing their fingers without sitting and moving. Therefore, in order to protect the health of our modern people, we make the choice of working out, and my topic here is the effect of working out on health. There are both advantages and disadvantages to the effects of working out at a gym. The first advantage among them is that working out at a gym improves physical strength. It is because working out can help your body become healthy at the same time as it helps you lose weight and can increase aerobic exercise. According to stories from various fitness clubs, it has been successful in losing 5kg within 3 months by steadily using the fitness machine, and it has greatly contributed to fat combustion and muscle strengthening. It can also help with mental health. Many people suffer from depression these days, and when these people start working out, they can purify their minds and change positively. According to the article, a study found that exercising in depression patients can have a greater effect on improving symptoms than when taking drugs. In addition, he said exercising can effectively alleviate depression and anxiety disorders. However, there are also disadvantages. Too much exercise can cause muscle strain and muscle rupture. According to the article, muscle damage is likely to occur due to excessive physical activity, and the most common area of muscle damage is the thigh. In some cases, the area may be depressed and swelling may occur. Therefore, you should exercise, but I don't think you should overdo it.

Do you know when science began? Or how modern science has come to be? The field created to explore these questions is called the history of science. I would like to talk about how to view the history of science properly.

When we study the history of science, we must view it from the perspective of the time. If we look at it through a modern lens, we may overlook the value science held in those earlier eras. That’s why we should not disregard past science just because it doesn’t align with modern perspectives.

Next, we must be able to identify the causes behind scientific discoveries. There are many reasons why new scientific facts emerge. Sometimes a scientist is born with exceptional intelligence, grows up in a wealthy household, or develops new science to solve a societal problem. Understanding these causes is very important.

For example, consider Einstein’s theory of relativity. One of the key reasons it was developed was to measure time accurately on trains.

Lastly, we must recognize that science is created by many people. Science constantly evolves. It is revised, erased, and added to over time. Therefore, science is a collaborative outcome made by many contributors. Even the concept of free fall motion, which we learn about in physics class, is the result of the work of many people.

Through the history of science, we can understand science itself—and through science, we can better understand the world. Develop scientific insight through the history of science.

Did you know that there are people who have broken their necks due to smartphone game addiction? There is a man who has broken his neck due to using his smartphone for a long time and cannot even lift his neck properly. The topic I will present today is: Are games really that bad? First, there are the advantages of games. Games are cheaper than other hobbies, take less preparation time, and have a high contribution to time. They also lightly reduce stress and affect mental flexibility and concentration. Next, there are disadvantages. In some cases, excessive addiction to games can cause a loss of balance with the real world, and it can have a negative impact on studies, work, and social relationships. And if you are addicted to games that consume time and money or spend a lot of time on them, you will also spend a lot of money on them. You may spend too much money on purchasing items or upgrading them in the game.If you don't get addicted to games and just enjoy them as a hobby, it doesn't seem so bad. Up to this point, are games only bad?

Good morning everyone. We use banks almost every day — to save money, receive our salaries, or get loans. But have you ever wondered how banks actually make money? Today, I’m going to explain how banks generate their profits in simple terms. Although the banking system may seem complicated, the basic way banks earn money is quite logical. Let’s look at two main sources of income for banks: the interest margin and investment profits. The main source of a bank’s income is the interest margin. The interest margin means the difference between the interest a bank pays to depositors and the interest it charges to borrowers. In 2024, the domestic bank made about 89.8% of its total revenue from interest margin. Banks also make money by investing in other assets. Banks don’t just store money — they are also investors. They invest in stocks, bonds, and other banks to earn additional profits. For example, in the case of URI Bank, they have a 12.1% stake in K-Bank stock, which is the second largest stake in it. In conclusion, banks make money mainly through interest margins and investments. These two methods work together to keep banks stable and profitable. Every time we deposit or borrow money, we are actually part of this financial system. Understanding how banks earn their profits helps us see how money flows in the economy. Thank you for listening.

Hello everyone.

Did you know that humans can now mimic the process of photosynthesis?

When I first heard about this idea in class, I became really curious and decided to look into it more deeply.

Today, I’d like to share what I learned.

I’m going to introduce a fascinating technology called artificial photosynthesis.

So first, what exactly is artificial photosynthesis?

Just like plants use sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to produce glucose and oxygen,

scientists are now trying to mimic key parts of that process using advanced chemical systems.

In simple terms, artificial photosynthesis turns sunlight, CO₂, and water into useful fuels — like hydrogen or methanol — instead of sugar.

It’s basically nature’s idea, recreated by human technology.

Next, artificial photosynthesis has many advantages.

First, it can help reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere — one of the main causes of global warming.

Second, it can produce clean, renewable fuel without harming the environment.

In the future, factories might capture the CO₂ they release and reuse it to make energy — nothing goes to waste.

That’s the power of this technology.

Then, how is artificial photosynthesis different from solar energy?

Solar panels only convert sunlight into electricity.

But artificial photosynthesis stores sunlight energy in chemical bonds, creating fuel that can be used even when the sun isn’t shining.

In other words, solar power gives instant energy, while artificial photosynthesis provides long-term, storable energy.

In conclusion, artificial photosynthesis is a highly sustainable technology that could help protect our planet’s environment.

It’s a perfect example of how humans can learn from nature to solve global challenges.

If we continue to develop it, one day we might live in a world powered by sunlight — just like the plants around us.

Thank you for listening.

Have you ever felt it was hard to stay calm because of strong emotions?
Maybe you got angry after someone said something hurtful, or maybe you felt anxious when things didn’t go the way you expected. In those moments, emotions can easily take control of us, making it difficult to protect our peace of mind.

So today, I want to share with you how to keep your mind steady without being controlled by emotions.

The first method is “Don’t react immediately.”
When emotions rise, our first instinct is to react right away to defend ourselves, argue, or escape. But that’s exactly when mistakes happen.
If you wait just one minute before responding, it gives your mind enough time to cool down.
That short pause can stop you from saying or doing something you’ll regret later.

The second method is “Remember the values you want to protect.”
When you feel strong emotions, remind yourself what truly matters your goals, your peace, your relationships.
If you keep your values in mind, emotions can’t drag you wherever they want.
Instead, you’ll guide your emotions in a direction that matches your principles.

In the end, emotions are not our enemies — they’re signals from our mind.
But when we learn to pause before reacting and to hold onto our values, we gain the power to stay calm no matter what happens.
So next time emotions start to rise, take a breath, wait a moment, and remember what truly matters to you.
That’s how you protect your peace — and your mind.

Thank you.

Good morning everyone. Before we begin, I’d like to ask you a question: Do you stretch before and after exercising?

Some of you might say yes, some no, and some may only do it when your muscles hurt.

But today, I want to show you why stretching around your workout is not just a good idea, but an essential one.

In this speech, I will explain the importance of stretching before and after exercise, and how doing it the right way can protect your body and improve your performance.

To begin, let’s look at how stretching works.

When we stretch, we lengthen our muscles and increase blood flow.

Before exercise, stretching helps prepare our muscles for movement.

It warms up the body and increases flexibility, reducing the risk of injury.

After exercise, stretching helps muscles relax and return to their normal length, which reduces stiffness and improves recovery.

Imagine your muscles are like rubber bands.

If you suddenly pull a cold rubber band, it might snap. But if you warm it up and stretch it gently, it becomes flexible and strong.

That’s exactly how our muscles work.

Now that we know why stretching is important, let’s learn how to do it properly.

First, remember that not all stretching is the same.

Before exercise, we should focus on dynamic stretching, such as leg swings, arm circles, or walking lunges.

These active movements warm up the body and prepare it for action.

After exercise, we use static stretching—holding a position still, such as touching your toes or stretching your arms behind your back.

These stretches help cool down the body and improve long-term flexibility.

Breathing is also important.

Breathe slowly and deeply.

Never force a stretch or bounce, because that can cause injury.

In conclusion, stretching before and after exercise may seem small, but it has a big impact.

Before exercise, it prepares your muscles and prevents injuries.

After exercise, it helps your body recover and stay flexible.

So next time you work out, remember—just a few minutes of stretching can protect your body, improve your performance, and keep you healthy.

Thank you for listening. I hope you start stretching with confidence from now on.

Unsplash

Do you enjoy watching soccer? You've probably heard that the home team has the advantage in soccer matches.

But is home advantage simply a coincidence or a real phenomenon? So today I'm going to look at home advantage and how spectators affect the game in soccer. First, home advantage means that the home team has an advantage over the away team due to various factors such as travel distance, support, and referee decisions. In soccer, this home advantage is particularly evident and is known to have a significant impact on the actual outcome of the game. So does home advantage really affect the outcome of a game? In fact, if you look at the home and away win percentages of the top six teams in the English Premier League, all six teams have a higher home win percentage than their away win percentage. Next, how much influence do spectators have on a soccer match? In fact, we compared team performances in 15 leagues before and after COVID-19. Before COVID-19, when there were spectators, the performance gap between home and away teams was large, but after COVID-19, when there were no spectators, the gap between home and away teams' performances was greatly reduced.

In this way, we found that home advantage and spectators in soccer matches have a significant impact on the outcome of the game.

So, if you have a team you support, I hope you cheer hard for your team to win.

Thank you

Psychology of Sport and Exercise

Opening:
What do you think is the greatest mathematical concept of all time? Is it something complex like calculus, or something simple like addition?

Thesis statement:
Today, I’m going to talk about what people think is the best mathematical concept.

Body:
Topic sentence 1:
First, many people believe that the four basic operations—addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division—are the best mathematical concept.
People chose the basic operations because they see them as the beginning of all mathematics. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to calculate anything at all.
Also, we use them most often in our daily lives, whether we are shopping, cooking, or measuring something. For this reason, many people think that the four basic operations are the foundation and the most important concept in math.

Topic sentence 2:
The second most popular answer was the Pythagorean Theorem.
People chose it because it’s very useful in real life—for example, when we measure distances or build something.
It’s also the base for many other mathematical ideas and formulas.
In fact, many students first realize how math connects to the real world through this theorem.

Topic sentence 3:
Lastly, some people answered “1 + 1 = 2.”
They said this because they believe math began the moment we defined that one plus one equals two.
It’s simple, but it represents the starting point of all logical thinking in mathematics.
In a way, it’s the first true statement that opened the door to all other mathematical discoveries.

Conclusion:
There isn’t a single answer to what the greatest mathematical concept is.
However, we can see that people tend to choose ideas they often encounter in their daily lives.
Whether it’s the four basic operations, the Pythagorean Theorem, or even “1 + 1 = 2,” all of these show how math is deeply connected to how we think and live every day.
Thank you.

Good morning everyone. When we think about mosquitoes, we usually focus only on the negative side, such as itchy bites and diseases. Because of this, mosquitoes are often considered one of the most annoying insects in our lives. However, if we look at them from a different perspective, we can actually find some surprising positive influences.

Today, I would like to talk about two reasons why mosquitoes can have good effects on our lives: first, the way they bite humans without causing pain, and second, how genetically modified mosquitoes are used to prevent diseases.

First of all, mosquitoes bite humans in a way that does not cause pain at the moment. When a mosquito bites, it releases a small amount of saliva that works like a natural painkiller. This allows the mosquito to feed without being noticed. Although this may seem unpleasant, this ability has helped scientists learn more about pain control and anesthesia. By studying how mosquitoes bite without pain, researchers gain ideas that may help improve medical treatments and develop better pain-relief methods for humans.

Second, mosquitoes are now being used in advanced scientific technology to help prevent diseases. Scientists have developed genetically modified mosquitoes that cannot spread dangerous diseases such as malaria or dengue fever. Some of these mosquitoes reduce the population of disease-carrying mosquitoes, while others stop viruses from growing inside their bodies. As a result, releasing these modified mosquitoes into certain areas has helped lower the number of infections and protect human lives. This shows that mosquitoes, when used wisely, can actually become a tool for improving public health.

In conclusion, although mosquitoes are often disliked, they are not entirely harmful. Their painless biting helps scientists understand pain control, and genetically modified mosquitoes play an important role in preventing serious diseases. By changing the way we see mosquitoes, we can better understand how even small and annoying creatures can contribute positively to human life. Thank you for listening.

출처: chat gpt (사진)

Hello everyone!
Today, I’d like to talk about one of the most famous landmarks in the world — the Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. in this presentation, we will learn about how the Eiffel Tower was built, how it was made safe, and why it became world-famous.The Eiffel Tower was designed by the French engineer Gustave Eiffel and completed in 1889 for the Paris World’s Fair. At that time, the use of iron as the main building material was revolutionary. Over 18,000 iron parts were made in a factory, then brought to the site and assembled with 2.5 million rivets. This method— prefabrication and iron-frame construction — was new and made the tower both light and strong.

Gustave Eiffel used mathematical calculations and wind resistance studies to make the structure stable.
Each iron piece was precisely shaped to handle wind pressure.
Because the tower is made of iron lattice, the wind passes through it easily instead of pushing it over.
Also, the tower expands and contracts slightly with temperature changes, showing how flexible and safe the design is.

At first, many Parisians thought the tower was ugly and useless.
But soon, it became a symbol of modern engineering and French pride.
It was the tallest structure in the world until 1930, and people from all over the world came to see it.
Today, it represents not only Paris but also innovation, romance, and human creativity.

In conclusion, the Eiffel Tower is more than just a tourist attraction.
It shows how innovative construction methods, careful engineering, and cultural pride can create a symbol that lasts for centuries.
Next time you see the Eiffel Tower, remember — it’s not just made of iron; it’s built on human imagination and determination.
Thank you for listening!

Hello everyone.
Have you ever thought about how much chemistry affects our daily lives?
When I first learned chemistry, I realized it is not just about formulas or reactions. Chemistry is not just a science in textbooks—it is a science that improves our world in countless ways. So, I’d like to share with you some examples of how chemistry is used in our everyday life to make it cleaner, safer, and more convenient.
Let’s explore together how chemical technologies are shaping a better world for all of us.

The first example is water purification

Polluted water can be cleaned through chemical treatment steps such as coagulation, sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection.

These steps use chemical coagulants and oxidizing agents instead of enzymes to remove suspended solids and harmful microorganisms.

(Visual 1)

As shown in this diagram, each stage plays a key role—coagulation gathers particles, filtration removes impurities, and disinfection ensures safe drinking water.

Next, let’s look at air purification.
Chemistry also purifies the air. Scientists have developed a water-washable ceramic catalyst filter that cleans polluted air. It uses UV light and chemical catalysts like TiO₂ and Cu₂O to break down harmful gases into carbon dioxide and water. At the same time, it traps fine dust in the membrane layer.

(Visual 2)

This filter can even be washed and reused, making it both effective and eco-friendly.

Finally, chemistry also helps us keep our food fresh for longer periods.
By controlling oxidation and microbial growth through safe preservatives or packaging materials, chemistry prevents food from spoiling too quickly.
(Visual 3)
This invention, for example, uses a thin chemical layer that blocks oxygen from entering the package—keeping fruits and snacks crisp and tasty.
In conclusion, chemistry is deeply connected to our everyday lives—from the water we drink, to the air we breathe, and even the food we eat.
It is a field that continuously creates innovations to make our world healthier and more sustainable.
So next time you drink a glass of clean water or open a fresh snack, remember—chemistry made it possible.
Thank you for listening.

출처: sage journals, nature, romegamart

Opening:
Hello everyone. Today, I’d like to talk about something that everyone does every day, but not everyone does well — sleep.
Sleep is not just a time when we close our eyes. It’s a vital process that helps our body recover, our mind focus, and our mood stay balanced.
Recently, I used a sleep tracking app to check my own sleeping habits, and it made me realize how different my sleep is from what’s considered good sleep.

Thesis statement:
In this speech, I will compare my sleep pattern with healthy sleep habits, and then explain the pros and cons of sleep to show why sleeping well is so important.

Body

Topic sentence 1:
First, let’s compare my sleep with what healthy sleep should look like.

Visual 1:
According to my sleep data, I went to bed at 2:12 a.m. and woke up at 6:37 a.m., which means I slept less than five hours.
I also moved between light and deep sleep many times, so my rest wasn’t stable.
In contrast, good sleep usually lasts seven to eight hours and includes long periods of deep sleep.
While I often wake up tired and unfocused, people who get enough quality sleep wake up refreshed, energetic, and ready to learn.
This comparison helped me understand that the time and quality of sleep are both important for a healthy life.

Topic sentence 2:
Now, let’s talk about the pros and cons of sleep in general.

Visual 2:
Good sleep has many benefits. It improves memory, concentration, and creativity.
It also helps our body grow and strengthens the immune system.
However, poor sleep has clear disadvantages.
When we don’t sleep enough, we become tired, stressed, and easily distracted.
Lack of sleep can even affect our emotions and make it harder to stay positive.
So, sleep can be both powerful and harmful — depending on how we manage it.

Conclusion:
In conclusion, sleep is one of the most important parts of our daily lives.
It gives us energy, focus, and happiness. Without it, everything becomes harder — learning, thinking, and even smiling.
That’s why we should all take sleep seriously and try to rest well every night.
Remember: good sleep means a good life.
So tonight, put away your phone, close your eyes, and sleep well.
Thank you.
