To help people in the later stages of dementia manage their illness at home or in a care home. Marie Curie in partnership with Hywel Dda University Health Board provide this service.

The Marie Curie Palliative Care Dementia Service is a team of Marie Curie senior nurses skilled in palliative care and experience of working with people with dementia.

They offer support, to the patient and family directly in all care settings.

Croeso Cynnes Laugharne is a small volunteer-run social enterprise in the heart of our community. We meet on the second Friday and fourth Friday of every month, from 11 am to 2 pm at Laugharne Memorial Hall.

Whatever the weather is like outside, inside the hall you are guaranteed a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with table tennis, games, newspapers, and lively conversations with both old friends and new. And, of course, there will be a delicious home-made two-course meal. And, thanks to generous donations, it is all absolutely free.
Everyone is welcome to come along for lunch and fun activities – and it is absolutely free!!

We are here to understand your views and experiences of health and social care, and to make sure your feedback is used by decision-makers to shape your services.

We seek out both good and bad stories so we understand what works well and how services may need to get better. And we look to particularly talk to those whose voices are not often heard.

You can get in touch with us however suits you to tell us about your experiences – email, phone or via our contact form.

We also talk to people about their views and experiences by holding events in your local communities or visiting you wherever you’re receiving your health or social care service.

We also work with community and interested groups and in line with national initiatives to gather people’s views. 

And when things go wrong we support you to make complaints. 

Our staff and volunteers work all over Wales so you will have local advice and support in your area. And we hold regular local events where you can find out more about us, share your stories face-to-face or ask you for your views on particular services.

Our work is for the people of Wales, so you can read our plans here and our past Board papers here. You are welcome to join our Board meetings which take place once a month at different locations.

Cradle Choir is a fun singing group for people living with dementia, providing an opportunity for those living with the disease as well as those in a caring capacity to enjoy each other’s company on a weekly basis. 

Meeting at Capel Newydd Crescent Road Llandeilo every Monday at 2.00pm - 4.00pm with refreshments

Our independent dementia advocacy project enables people with a diagnosis of dementia to access the services and support you need and to have a voice in decisions that are being made. It's also to support you through situations where you may be abused and need to find safeguarding solutions. 

The advocacy we offer will be independent of any other service people living with dementia use. This means the person with dementia will be at the heart of the decision making process, and we can support and represent them without any conflict of interest.

The Herbert Protocol is a form that carers, family or friends of a vulnerable person, or the person themselves can fill in.

It contains a list of information to help the police if the person goes missing, including:

• medication required

• mobile numbers

• places previously located

• a recent photograph
