I asked them a couple of questions about their time here and how they managed it. Something that was interesting to me was that this was something that they believed was something you had to learn while going into it, instead of knowing the full job beforehand and going into it.

I don't think AI has the hugest impact on this career, the only thing I can really think about is maybe there will be like automated services in case a human isn't available? But overall, I don't think it will have a big impact on this career just because the human-to-human interaction is so important.

I want to be a social worker that is excited to wake up and help people every day that I go into work. Something that I find fascinating is just how the human mind works when interacting with people and I know that there are fields like biological psychology, but I just think that the real interaction with people resonates with me more for a career. I truly value people's experiences, I think being able to walk out of something and feeling fulfilled that you did something and won't have any regrets, speaks more than anything tangible, and I think the world has taught me that really, with all of my experiences that I will always look back upon, it's the thing I value most.

I think in this age of more mental health awareness, social workers are in more need and have started to rise, people always talk about 'seeing a therapist' as a way for people to allow themselves to express themselves and help better themselves, rather than seeing it as a weak mentality and only something that weak people go to. I think the new way of thinking aligns with how I feel, I want to be someone that people can look to for support, even if it's not in the traditional way of a sit-down therapist.

This project allowed me to be opened up to more perspectives, and I am especially lucky to have at least one person in the class have the same major as me (with much more thought put into it than I have) and it helped guide me through what I want to do next. I don't think I have any overarching questions; I just wonder if this will still be a career that will be needed in the future. I hope to be someone that can support whoever needs support wherever I end up, and through that, I can feel satisfied myself with what I have achieved.

Something we talked about afterwards that I still remembered, and I think can help me in the future was that teachers will all have to develop their own style of teaching. Something that was surprising was that I learned she was promoted into this position and really climbed their way up into this position, it wasn't something that they like strived for. I think I might look into positions that won't be exactly what I initially look for but will be something helpful for my future job.
