Good Intention ( Niyyah ) . إِنَّمَا الأَعْمَالُ بِالنِّيَاتِ Means: Actions are dependent upon their Intentions. (saying of the holy prophet Muhammad) . This hadith explained that intention is an important thing that we must highlight . Thus , we must approach our studies with the right intentions . One of the examples of right intention is begin with a sincere intention to seek knowledge for the sake of Allah , rather than seeking fame or recognition . This helps ensure that our efforts are rewarded.

2. Gratitude . We must always express gratitude to Allah for the opportunity to learn. We also need to recognize that knowledge is a blessing and that many people yearn for it but may not have access. This divine origin sets it apart as a source of absolute truth and guidance for humanity .

1. Al-Quran is a comprehensive guidance . The Qur'an addresses various aspects of life, including:

Faith and Belief: It provides clear teachings on the oneness of Allah (Tawhid), the prophethood, and the afterlife.

Moral and Ethical Conduct: The Qur'an outlines principles of justice, honesty, compassion, and humility, guiding Muslims in their interactions with others.

2.

PILLARS OF ISLAM

The Five Pillars of Islam are important acts of worship that shape the lives of Muslims everywhere. They are the foundation of a Muslim’s faith and help guide their actions and beliefs. By following these pillars, Muslims build a stronger relationship with God (Allah) and their community . Here’s a bit more detail about each of the Five Pillars of Islam

1) Shahada (Faith): This is the most important belief in Islam. By saying the Shahada, Muslims show they believe in one God (Allah) and that Muhammad is His prophet. It’s like saying, “I believe in God and follow His messenger.”

2) Salah (Prayer): Muslims are required to pray five times a day. These prayers connect them with God and are performed at specific times: fajr; before sunrise, dhuhr ; midday, asr; mid-afternoon, maghrib ; after sunset, and isha' ; at night

3 )Zakat ( Charity ) : Zakat is about giving to those in need. Muslims are expected to donate a portion of their wealth each year. This practice helps support the poor and those who are struggling. Zakat is not just charity; it is a duty for Muslims. By giving, they cleanse their wealth and show compassion for others. This helps build a caring and supportive community

4. Sawm (Fasting) : Sawm refers to fasting during the month of Ramadan. From dawn to sunset, Muslims do not eat or drink anything. Fasting teaches self-control and reminds Muslims of the importance of being grateful for what they have. It also helps them understand the hardships of those who are less fortunate. During Ramadan, Muslims often spend more time in prayer and reading the Quran. It’s a time for reflection, prayer, and community.

5. Hajj (Pilgrimage) : Hajj is the pilgrimage to Mecca, and it is an important event for Muslims. Every Muslim who is physically and financially able should try to make this journey at least once in their lifetime. Hajj takes place during specific days in the Islamic month of Dhu al-Hijjah. This journey symbolizes unity among Muslims, as people from all over the world come together in worship.

In a nutshell , The Five Pillars of Islam are very important for Muslims. By following these pillars, Muslims can connect better with God ( Allah ) and their community. Each pillar helps Muslims grow and support each other. By doing these practices, they try to live in a way that makes God ( Allah ) happy and helps others

PILLARS OF IMAN

The Pillars of Iman (Faith) are important beliefs for all Muslims. They help guide how Muslims understand their faith and their relationship with Allah (God). Each pillar is important for a Muslim's beliefs and spiritual life . Here’s explanation of the Six Pillars of Iman

1. Belief in Allah (God) ; The first pillar of Iman is believing in one God, Allah. Muslims believe that Allah is the creator of everything. He is all-powerful, all-knowing, and very kind. Allah has no partners or equals. This belief in the oneness of God is very important in Islam. Muslims show their love for Allah by worshiping Him, praying, and following His teachings from the Quran.

2. Believe in Angels ; The second pillar is believing in angels. Angels are special beings created by Allah from light. They do not have physical bodies and are not seen by people. Angels have different jobs . Believing in angels reminds Muslims that there is a spiritual world that they cannot see.

3. Belief in the Holy Books ; The third pillar is believing in the holy books. Muslims believe that Allah revealed several important books to guide people. The Quran is the most important book and is the final message from Allah to humanity. Muslims also respect earlier books, like the Zabur ( given to Daud ) , Taurat (given to Musa ) and Injil (given to Isa ). However, they believe the Quran is the only book that has not been changed.

4. Belief in Prophets ; The fourth pillar is the belief in prophets. Allah sent many prophets to teach people about Him and how to live. Muslims should know about 25 prophets mentioned in the Quran. Muslims believe Muhammad is the final prophet, meaning no one will come after him. They learn from the teachings and examples of these prophets.

5. Belief in the Day of Judgment ; The fifth pillar is believing in the Day of Judgment. Muslims believe this day will come when everyone will be raised from the dead. On this day, people will be judged for their actions. Those who lived well and followed Allah will be rewarded with paradise (Jannah). Those who did wrong and did not believe may face punishment. This belief encourages Muslims to do good things and live according to Allah’s guidance.

6. Belief in Divine Predestination ( Qadar ) ; The sixth pillar is the belief in divine predestination. Muslims believe that Allah knows everything that will happen and has a plan for each person. Believing in this helps Muslims trust Allah, even when things are hard. They understand that everything happens for a reason and that they should be patient and hopeful.

To sum up , These Six Pillars of Iman form the foundation of a Muslim's faith. They help guide beliefs and actions, leading Muslims to live a life that is pleasing to Allah.

1. History of Fasting

Fasting has been practiced by many religions before Islam, including Judaism, Christianity, Hinduism, and Buddhism. In Islam, fasting during Ramadan was made obligatory in the second year of Hijrah, as mentioned in Surah Al-Baqarah (2:183):

“O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed for you as it was prescribed for those before you so that you may attain taqwa (piety).”

2. Wisdom of Fasting

1)Strengthening Taqwa (God-consciousness) – Fasting helps Muslims develop self-discipline, patience, and devotion to Allah.

2)Controlling Desires – It helps regulate physical and spiritual desires, preventing sinful actions.

3)Promoting Self-Purification – Fasting cleanses the soul by restraining from negative behaviors such as lying and backbiting.

4)Enhancing Empathy and Charity – Experiencing hunger allows one to understand the suffering of the poor, encouraging generosity.

3. Flexibility in Fasting

Islam provides concessions for those who are sick, traveling, or unable to fast due to health conditions. They can either make up the fast later or provide fidyah (feeding the needy).

4. Spiritual and Social Benefits

1) Increased Worship – Ramadan is a time for more prayer, Quran recitation, and remembrance of Allah.

2) Unity Among Muslims – The collective observance of fasting strengthens brotherhood and community spirit.

3) Forgiveness and Mercy – Fasting is a means for Allah’s forgiveness, as stated in Hadith:

“Whoever fasts in Ramadan with faith and seeks reward from Allah, all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Sahih Bukhari, Muslim)

5. The Special Status of Fasting

1) A Unique Act of Worship – Allah states in a Hadith Qudsi: “Fasting is for Me, and I will reward it Myself.” (Sahih Bukhari)

2) A Shield from Hellfire – Fasting serves as a protection from Hell and elevates a believer’s status in the Hereafter.

To sum up , Fasting in Ramadan is not just about abstaining from food and drink but serves as a spiritual purification, a training for self-restraint, and a means to attain closeness to Allah.
