We have set up an advice column on another padlet page. On padlet, we will have posted three questions from "pip" asking for advice. ( it is sort of like an advice column in a newspaper) You will go onto the padlet page and will post your advice for pip, from your characters point of view. Leave your answers as "Name_CharactersName_Question#". It only has to be 2-3 sentences.

We are going to play a game where you have to go around and ask questions about your character to figure out what character you got.

This will be some of the writing section time because it ties into the actual writing part.

Some questions can be based on relationships with other characters,your social class/ status, or anything else. But do not just say things like " I am the main character " for your first question.

It's not supposed to be a super fast activity, you are supposed to try to get the most information possible out of your questions to make the game more fun!

*Keith gets date with the most popular girl in school, Amanda Jones, and he buys her earrings that cost him all his college savings. He tries to impress her so she will like him. Later he realizes he likes his best friend, Watts, and that she has been here the whole time but he always wanted to something better. This relates to Pip trying to get the one thing he can't have but not realizing that what he needs is right in front of him.

The High Road

This song is a great example of how pip devoted most of his time to get Estella to love him, and he would have done anything to achieve that. The dark and eerie mood also shows how Pip felt about Estella's plans of marrying Drummle. He lost everything that he worked for, and finally came to the realization that money, and being in a high class won't win her heart over.

Do not ask anyone who you are just sit down where ever you want for now.

We will use this for the activity that then goes along with the other half of the writing time.

Writing Activity Part 2:

Now that you know what character you are, flip over your name tag to the front of your shirt (there might be a few of you that got the same character and that is okay)

And now you must be addressed and talk like your character would for the rest of class. ( for talking like your character just do your best because some of the characters will be harder than others) Just act like how you think they would act.

For the second part of our writing portion, write about a time that you had to deal with an unexpected event. (one paragraph)

Then, write about how you think the character that you got in the last game would have dealt with it.

Though not required, we wanted to share why we chose this picture for the background. It was chosen becuase Pip has been putting information together as his life has continued, but in this chapter, he discovers many confusing events that he has to piece together and make sense of.

The Movie Billy Madison

*Billy Madison apologizes to a guy that he used to make fun of in high school and later the guy he apologized to shoots the bad guy that tries to kill Billy Madison. This relates to Pip helping the convict then the convict comes back and helps Pip later on.

Connections to Previous Chapters:

One of the major things that we find out is that the convict is the one who is Pip's patron.

This connects to previous chapters because if it hadent been for Pip helping out the convict in the beginning of the story, Pip would have never had the chance to become a "gentleman" and leave his home for this adventure he is on.
