Author: Chris Bradford
Summary: After lethal ninja Dokugan Ryu (Dragon Eye) has gotten hold of his father's rutter (a mariner's handbook of written sailing directions), the most precious item in Jack's possession, Jack suspects that Father Bobadillo, a brother of the society of Jesus, now has the rutter in his possession, after seeing an almost identical-looking book in his room. The year is 1613 and Japan is threatened with war. Eventually meeting a Spanish man fleeing down the streets of Japan and trying to get to Hokkaido, Jack is feeling the pressure beating down on him harder than ever. When a fire tears through the Niten Ichi Ryu, Jack barely misses getting burned alive, strangled by a chain, getting kidnapped, and even poisoned. But when Jack accidentally kills someone in the Scorpion Gang (Kazuki's gang of bullies), Kazuki swears revenge by bullying Jack at every chance he gets. As Jack learns how to ride a horse, competes in a boat race with his previous experience as a sailor, writes several haikus, and gets hit by almost every weapon in the dojo by his sensei, Jack finally realizes what it truly means to be a samurai. Jack's survival- and that of his friends- depends upon him mastering the technique of the Two Heavens, the secret sword technique of the legendary samurai Masamoto Takeshi.
Whether I enjoyed it: This book is probably the best out of the three Young Samurai books I have read so far, with the longest story (417 pages), best plot, and best descriptions.
Score out of ten: 9.5/10

Author: Nick Arnold
Summary: This book is about sound, how to amplify sound, animals that use sound, how sound kills people, deaf people who are famous, and many other sound-related things, including scientists who have studied sound. It also has a story of how a scientist and a DJ work together to learn about sound. It also tells you what living in a world without sound would feel like, and how to make the ultimate concert by using sound techniques.
Whether I enjoyed it: Yes, because it had experiments I could try, quizzes, and famous events to do with sound in history.
Score out of ten: 6/10
