Target learners: Further education students studying a level 5 in childcare in Drogheda Institute Of Further Education
Learning design approach: ABC learning design
Timing: Two hour blended learning session

Session learning outcomes:

At the end of the session, students will be able to:

1. Describe the aims in each theme under aistear
2. Describe the learning goals under each theme of aistear
3. Demonstrate independant learning through a webquest task

Aim: To introduce the topic of Aistear

Start by asking the students what they know about the curriculums undergone in a creche, then give a quick introduction to the topic and an overview of class

Timing: 20 minutes

2.Acquisition Activity

Aim: To Analyse theme 1 and 2 of Aistear

With the use of powerpoint slides I will explain the first and second Aistear themes- "well-being" and " identity and well-being" in which I will explain both the aims and learning goals in each

Timing: 20 minutes

3. Investigation Activity

Aim: to find Aistear activities

Students will be given a webquest task to find 2 aistear activites that can be implemented in the childcare setting. I will place a game code on the projector linking to a padlet that they can then post their activities to.

4. Acquisition activity

Aim: to investigate theme 3 and 4 of Aistear

I will use my powerpoint slides to examine the third and fourth themes in aistear - "communicating" and " exploring and thinking" in which i will explain the aims and learning goals within each.

Timing: 20 minutes

5. Practice/ Collaboration activity

Aim: To check the students learning through the use of Kahoot

the students will be put into groups of three where they will partake in a kahoot i made. I will use the kahoot as a tool to check the learning of all the students. The kahoot will be based off of the four Aistear themes.
