Albert's spirit animal is a lion. Lions are strong, fierce, and aggressive. They are controlling of others and a symbol of ferocity. Albert possesses many of these qualities because he comes off as very aggressive and intimidating. He is also very controlling and demanding of everyone around him, especially Celie, and the orders he barks at her.

Albert is a rose petal because although he is like a thorn in Celie's side, constantly emotionally and physically abusing her, he eventually changes his ways. After she left with Shug, he faced many hardships and had time to reflect on how badly he treated her. He began to take care of the house himself, found religion, and attempted to start living a better life. Albert has learned from his mistakes, grown, and bloomed like a rose.

Albert is a burning bush of fire and aggression. He is mean-spirited and cruel in treating Celie and the people around him. He is extremely short-tempered and when he gets mad, he is a ball of fire. Albert is someone that the characters seem to be very cautious around because they never know when he may explode on them. He makes people feel fearful and on edge just being in his presence because of his antagonistic personality.

This song represents Albert becoming a better person and how he decided to turn his life around. He realized how horrible of a person he was to Celie and many other people in his life, and finally changed his ways towards the end of the novel. Albert apologized to Celie, learned to do things on his own, and overall created a better life for himself. Once Celie left him, he finally realized that to make a change in his life, it had to start with the man in the mirror.

As a husband, Albert is the opposite of what one should be. He is neither loving nor kind and treats Celie terribly. He only married Celie to use her around the house and make his life easier. When he couldn't marry Nettie, he settled for the next best option, but not because he loved Celie.

7. RED

RED is linked to Albert because of his fiery and bold personality. He is very abusive and mean to Celie without having any regret until towards the end of the novel. It also connects to his anger and how easily infuriated he gets.

8. Shug Avery (Albert's love)

Shug Avery, the singer and bold woman who speaks her mind, is very important to Albert. Although he has been with many women and had children with multiple of them, she is his greatest love. Even throughout most of his marriage with Celie, he still tried to keep a relationship with Shug.
