1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?
Yes, the objectives were fulfilled. I was able to teach both beginner and intermediate students, focusing on the fundamentals (grip, footwork, strokes) and gradually progressing to drills, rallies, and tactical play. The students showed improvement in skills, confidence, and understanding of the game, which matched the project’s goals.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?
I enjoyed seeing the students’ progress each week. Watching them execute a proper stroke or move confidently on court after practicing was very rewarding. I also liked the interactive nature of the coaching, which includes giving feedback, motivating them, and celebrating their small improvements.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?
The most challenging part was adapting my coaching style to different levels of players. Beginners needed simple, step-by-step guidance, while intermediate students required more refinement and faster-paced drills. Managing their energy levels and keeping them engaged throughout the session was also a challenge.

4. What has really worked?
Combining footwork with racket drills worked very well. It helped students understand that movement and positioning are just as important as shot technique. Also, using progressive drills by starting simple and then increasing difficulty, kept players motivated and prevented frustration.

5. What can be improved in this project?
I think I could improve by adding more variety of drills to prevent monotony and by incorporating game-based scenarios earlier, so students can apply techniques in real match situations. Time management during sessions can also be refined to ensure smoother transitions between warm-ups, drills, and practice games.

Sonea Rajalingam, A195001, 25-29 August 2025

This final week has been the most rewarding part of my elective posting journey. I can proudly say the objectives of this project were definitely fulfilled. From completing my confined water dives to finishing the open water dives, every skill and requirement was met. What started as theory in PADI eLearning slowly transformed into real practice underwater, and by the end of this week, I truly felt that I had achieved what I came here for — to learn, to dive, and to grow. I am finally feeling more confident in open water now.

The part I enjoyed the most was without doubt the open water dives. Breathing underwater while surrounded by marine life was both surreal and calming, like stepping into a whole new world. Every descent brought a mix of excitement and wonder, and each dive felt like a reward after weeks of preparation.

There were definitely challenges along the way. The PADI eLearning itself was something very new to me — while reading the modules, I often had to do extra research and even watch YouTube videos just to fully understand the concepts. It was a different style of learning compared to medicine, but slowly I adapted. In the water, buoyancy control tested my patience the most, as I kept rising or sinking unexpectedly. Flexible skills also pushed me out of my comfort zone, but each practice made me stronger and more confident.

What really worked well in this project was the structure and progression. Starting with confined water dives (5 dives, water skill assessments, skin diving skills, and 5 flexible skills) helped me get comfortable before heading into the real ocean. By the time we did the 4 open water dives and 10 flexible skills, I already had the foundation to handle them, and the transition felt natural.

If there is anything that could be improved, it would be giving more time for buoyancy practice, since that skill is the heart of a smooth and enjoyable dive. More chances to practice finning and hovering would have helped me feel even more at ease underwater. Still, the challenges made the journey more meaningful, and I ended this week with both a sense of accomplishment and a love for the sea that will stay with me.

SWIMMING: A THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TO PHYSICAL AND MENTAL WELL-BEING (Elective Posting Week 4)

- Shashinee A/P Kamalavanan

- A195436

- 16th August 2025 - 25th August 2025

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes, I wholeheartedly believe that the objectives of my elective posting swimming journey have been fulfilled.

My first objective was to learn the basic swimming techniques and water safety skills which would help me feel confident in the water and be prepared for any emergency. Looking back, I can truly say that I have achieved this as learning breaststroke and water treading has given me both the skills I wanted and also a sense of security whenever I am in the pool.

My second objective was to use swimming as a way to build my fitness especially my stamina, strength and body coordination. Through regular practice, I have noticed a real difference in my endurance and how much stronger and more comfortable I feel moving through the water.

Another important objective for me was to explore how swimming could benefit my mental health. Swimming has become a form of stress relief and a way to clear my mind. I have found peace and joy in every session and it has truly become a space for me to recharge emotionally.

Lastly, I wanted to develop discipline and resilience through this journey and I believe that completing my breaststroke and water treading swimming assessment marks a significant milestone which demonstrates my dedication, perseverance and growth throughout this journey.

All in all, this accomplishment have not only made my little dream of becoming a confident swimmer a reality but also marks the first step into a lifelong journey of swimming and self-improvement.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

To be honest, my entire swimming project has been my favourite experience. Swimming has always been something I deeply admired and wished I could do well. That being said, if I had to choose one particular moment which I enjoyed the most, it would definitely be the first time I managed to float all by myself without the support of a floating board and complete one full leap continuously without stopping. These moments filled me with immense happiness which was a proof that I was no longer just learning but truly swimming. The sense of accomplishment I felt was indescribable and it reminded me that I am capable of achieving goals that once felt out of reach.

This milestone was not just about swimming, it was a gentle yet powerful reminder to myself that I have taken an important step in my swimming journey, one that I know will continue forever. Swimming has given me a new sense of confidence, joy and determination. Apart from the physical skills, I have enjoyed the peace and calmness that being in the water brings, the satisfaction of pushing myself beyond my limits along with the encouragement I received from my swimming instructor. All these experiences together have made this project incredibly meaningful and unforgettable.

3. What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)

One of the main challenges I faced during my swimming project was learning to properly synchronize my breathing technique with the breaststroke hand and leg movements while maintaining the correct pace. At first, this felt overwhelming because it required a lot of coordination and focus. It was definitely not easy trying to remember every step such as how to breathe, when to kick, how to time each kick and when to use breaststroke hand movements while staying afloat. However, with consistent practice, both during lessons with my instructor and during my own individual practice sessions, I was able to gradually get the hang of it. I realized that swimming is as much about focus and mindfulness as it is about physical ability and achieving that level of coordination was challenging but extremely rewarding once I succeeded.

Another significant challenge that I faced was building stamina. Stamina was highly important because my assessment required me to complete four leaps where each leap was about 30 metres long. Initially, swimming continuously without stopping felt very tiring and I often had to pause to catch my breath. This made me realize that swimming is a full-body workout that demands not only proper technique but also endurance. Hence, I dedicated extra time to practice and gradually pushed myself to swim longer distances without breaks. Over time, I noticed real improvements in my stamina and overall fitness which was very encouraging.

Overall, these challenges taught me that progress in swimming comes with consistent effort and determination. The process of struggling, practicing and eventually overcoming these challenges made the entire journey much more meaningful. Every challenge I faced turned into a valuable lesson which improved both my swimming ability and also strengthened my confidence and perseverance.

4. What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)

One thing I wholeheartedly believe worked very well in my swimming journey was my ability to swim two leaps continuously. This was a huge achievement for me because it was something that not only excited and motivated me but also filled me with a deep sense of joy. There was a time in my journey where even swimming one leap without stopping felt challenging so being able to swim two leaps continuously felt like a real breakthrough. It showed me how much progress I had made and motivated me to keep pushing forward.

That being said, building the stamina needed to achieve this milestone was no easy task but it was absolutely worth the effort. I remember that on some days with determination and consistent practice, I managed to complete two leaps continuously for three or even four times in one session. These moments were incredibly empowering because they reminded me that with persistence, progress is always possible.

Therefore, this part of my elective posting project has taught me a powerful lesson which I will carry with me forever which is with consistent effort and determination, even the goals that once felt impossible can become achievable. Swimming has improved my physical skills, strengthened my mindset and proved that resilience and persistence are key to growth. This realization is something I truly value and will continue to apply in other areas of my life as well.

5. What can be improved in this project?

If there was one thing I could improve about my elective posting project, it would be learning another style of swimming in addition to breaststroke and water treading. While I am so grateful of what I have achieved, adding another style would have given me a wider range of skills and challenged me further.

Nevertheless, I am truly grateful for how this project has turned out. It has given me confidence, stamina and a solid foundation to build on. This marks the first step in a lifelong swimming journey and I am excited to keep learning new techniques and improving myself in the future.

Name, Matric Number, Date

Srikah Ganesh, A194680, 31 August 2025

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Definitely yes. When I started, my goal was to learn the basics of karate and build my stamina, discipline, and teamwork. Looking back, I can see how much progress I’ve made , from struggling with simple stances to performing kata confidently, from warming up nervously to sparring with focus. The objectives weren’t just ticked off, they turned into real skills and habits I can carry forward.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

The sparring sessions were the highlight for me. They were intense, exciting, and sometimes a little scary, but that’s what made them fun. They were thrilling and unpredictable, like a real test of everything I had learned. It felt like the moment where all the basics we practiced finally came alive. I also enjoyed the team spirit, cheering for each other through the tough drills, and feeling the bond grow week by week.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?

Honestly, grading day was the hardest. The pressure of performing everything perfectly the kata, stances, kicks while everyone was watching tested both my focus and my confidence.Another big challenge was adapting quickly to corrections from the coach. Sometimes I thought I had mastered a move, only to realize I still needed to fix my stance or timing

4. What has really worked?

What worked best was the balance between guidance and practice. Our coach’s corrections, the drills, and the constant repetition all paid off. The teamwork games also worked surprisingly well , they weren’t just fun, they actually built trust and communication, which later showed up during sparring. Now I can protect myself and know the basic defence

5. What can be improved in this project?

If I could improve one thing, I’d add more sparring time. That’s where I felt the most growth and where karate really tested me , not just my skills, but also my composure and reactions. Maybe even short reflection sessions after training would help, so we can share experiences and learn from each other on the spot. Overall, the elective posting was well-planned and very fulfilling because the objectives were met and the sessions were both challenging and fun will continue it further.

Elective Posting Week 4: My Journey in Swimming

Nur Aleeya Maisarah, A196077, 25th August 2025 - 31st August 2025

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes, I believe the objectives I set for myself were successfully achieved. When I first decided to take swimming classes, my primary goal was to learn the fundamentals of swimming, particularly up to mastering the breaststroke technique. I am pleased to say that I have reached that milestone, I can now confidently swim a few laps using breaststroke. Beyond the technical skills, I also aimed to improve my overall physical fitness and endurance. Through consistent practice, I noticed significant progress in both areas. I feel stronger, more energetic, and my stamina in the water has noticeably increased. Additionally, one of my personal goals was to find a form of exercise that I could genuinely enjoy and use as a way to de-stress. Swimming has become exactly that for me. Not only is it a great workout, but it has also become something I look forward to. It offers me a sense of calm and relaxation, which has positively impacted my well-being. All in all, I feel that my swimming journey has been both rewarding and motivating.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

To put it simply, I thoroughly enjoyed every part of my swimming lessons. The entire experience was both engaging and enriching. What stood out to me the most were the small but crucial details that go into mastering each swimming technique. I developed a deep appreciation for how subtle adjustments like relaxing my shoulder and hip muscles could greatly affect my ability to float and move smoothly in the water. I also found it fascinating how something as simple as the correct positioning of my feet could generate the forward momentum needed to glide effectively. Learning to coordinate my body and understand the mechanics behind each movement gave me a newfound respect for the sport. One of the most enjoyable parts of the learning process was mastering the rhythm and timing required for the breaststroke. It was challenging at first, but very satisfying once I started to get the hang of it. Hence the true highlight was the moment I could perform the breaststroke confidently without the assistance of foam noodles. That sense of independence in the water was incredibly satisfying and being able to swim multiple laps around the pool afterward felt like a major personal achievement.

3. What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)

I would say the most challenging part of my swimming journey was becoming familiar with the correct positioning of my feet, especially for the breaststroke. It was difficult at first because I wasn’t used to aligning my feet in the heel-to-heel position, forming a ‘V’ shape. This specific position is crucial, as it sets the foundation for generating the forward push needed to glide through the water. Getting it right required my full attention and coordination, even the slightest misalignment could affect my movement and disrupt the flow of the stroke. Another slightly less significant challenge was learning to synchronize my rhythm, particularly when it came to coordinating the pull of my hands with the lift of my head for breathing during breaststroke. I found it tricky to apply just the right amount of pressure with my arms to create that upward push that would bring my head comfortably above the water. Thankfully, with consistent practice, I was able to get the hang of it fairly quickly. Once these elements started to come together, the entire motion felt much more natural and smooth.

4. What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)

What worked really well for me throughout my swimming lessons was the combination of guided coaching sessions and dedicated self-practice. The structured support from my coach, paired with opportunities to independently reinforce what I had learned, created an effective learning environment. During the coaching sessions, my coach was extremely attentive and hands-on. They would closely observe my movements, providing immediate and constructive feedback on areas that needed improvement. Sometimes, this even involved physically guiding or repositioning my limbs to help me understand the correct form, something that was incredibly helpful in building muscle memory and body awareness. In addition to the in-session corrections, my coach would assign specific drills and focus points for my self-practice sessions. These weren’t just casual swims, they were targeted homework sessions designed to reinforce the techniques I was learning. I spent this time refining particular movements, improving my feel for the water, and allowing my body to become more familiar with the flow and sequence of breaststroke.

5. What can be improved in this project?

If there is one thing I would choose to improve, it would be to expand my skills by learning additional swimming strokes beyond the breaststroke. Throughout this journey, I came to realize just how precise and calculated every movement in swimming truly is, which is something I had not fully appreciated until I began learning it myself. While I am genuinely proud of how much I have progressed with the breaststroke, I now see how rewarding it would be to broaden my knowledge and gain proficiency in other strokes, such as freestyle, backstroke, or even butterfly. Doing so would not only enhance my overall swimming ability but also provide new challenges and opportunities for growth. That said, I am still very pleased with how my project turned out. It has been a fulfilling experience, and the skills I have acquired so far have laid a strong foundation for continued learning and improvement in the future.

Week 4- Breaststroke and my overall swimming journey

-Subethera A/P Shatia Rama

-A195744

-29 August 2025

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes, the objectives of the project were definitely fulfilled. Swimming has not only enhanced my physical fitness but also boosted my confidence in the water. Throughout the weeks, I’ve noticed improvements in my motor skills, coordination and overall body control. I’ve successfully mastered three major swimming techniques—breaststroke, backstroke, and freestyle. Each stroke came with its own learning curve, but I feel very proud of being able to perform them confidently. Overall, I’m extremely happy with the skills I’ve gained and the milestones I’ve achieved.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

I truly enjoyed learning the backstroke the most because it gave me a sense of relaxation and calmness in the water. It felt very natural and peaceful, almost like floating effortlessly while moving forward. At the same time, I also loved doing the breaststroke. It was one of the easiest strokes for me to pick up, especially after I had already learned the more difficult strokes. Breaststroke really relies on leg strength to push yourself forward, and once I got the rhythm right, it became so enjoyable and even therapeutic. It gave me a sense of flow and freedom in the water which made the whole learning process fun.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?

The freestyle stroke was the most challenging for me, both physically and mentally. It required stamina, proper breathing and continuous effort to keep up with the rhythm of the strokes and kicks. At times, I felt exhausted but the challenge itself motivated me to push harder. When I finally saw myself performing it smoothly, I was astonished and proud of how far I had come. The sense of achievement after overcoming that difficulty gave me a lot of satisfaction.

4. What has really worked?

The most important aspect that really worked for me was mastering the breathing technique. At the beginning, I had a fear of water, but once I learned how to breathe properly, that fear slowly disappeared and turned into confidence. Breathing is such a crucial part of swimming—without it, the strokes feel incomplete. Once I got it right, all the strokes became much easier and more natural for me. In addition, my physical endurance also helped a lot. Having good stamina allowed me to sustain my strokes and kicks for longer, which made a huge difference in my progress. By the end of the project, I felt confident performing freestyle, breaststroke and backstroke with proper breathing coordination.

5. What can be improved in this project?

If I had more time, I would have loved to complete my swimming journey by mastering the butterfly stroke. It is known as one of the most difficult strokes and I feel it would have been the perfect way to challenge myself even further. Unfortunately, time constraints didn’t allow me to fully learn and polish it. Still, I am proud of myself because my body was able to adapt and learn the other strokes quickly. This project made me realize how capable I am of picking up new skills, and I’m truly grateful for the progress I’ve made. Moving forward, I hope to continue practicing and eventually master the butterfly stroke too.

Padlet Week/Phase 4

Nur Maisarah binti Mohd Firdauz

A191736

25 Aug - 3 Sept 2025

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?

Yes, I believe the objectives of the project were fulfilled. I managed to develop my basic swimming skills, including floating, breathing techniques, and simple movements such as push and glide and breast stroke. I also became more confident in the water and slowly overcame my fear of swimming as a beginner. On top of that, I realized how swimming can improve both physical health and mental wellbeing, as I felt more relaxed and energized after each class.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

What I enjoyed the most was being able to learn new skills every week. Each session gave me something new to try, whether it was star float, mushroom float, back float, or push and glide. I also liked the feeling of achievement when I managed to do something that I was initially scared of.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?

The most challenging part for me was overcoming my fear of water. In the beginning, I struggled to stay calm, especially when trying new floating techniques. However, with practice, patience, and guidance from the instructor, I became more confident and less anxious in the water. It taught me patience and reminded me that progress takes time.

4. What has really worked?

What really worked for me was consistent practice and learning to relax in the water. Focusing on my breathing and trusting the water to support me made a big difference. I also think the step-by-step guidance from the instructor helped me build skills gradually without feeling too overwhelmed. Overall, self practice is really helpful as it makes me more prepared before going to the class.

5. What can be improved in this project?

I think the project is already well-structured, but maybe having more self-practice time in between lessons could help strengthen the skills faster. It would also be helpful to add short revision sessions at the beginning of each class to refresh what I learned previously before moving on to a new skill. Other than that, if I had more time, I would love to continue learning beyond the basics such as freestyle stroke and butterfly stroke. These are more advanced technique but I believe they would be great next step after building water confidence and breaststroke.

What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

I really enjoyed the feel of a shot where you hit it solid and the ball goes exactly where you intend it to be.

3. What have you found challenging about this project? (any part of the project you found hard to do)

The main challenging part is working my body to rotate as much as my hands do. Tempo is kinda hard to because when you are learning new thing it kinda messes your tempo

4. What has really worked? (any part in the project that you thought worked well)

I can understand and implement a new component in my swing effectively but there are certain things that is a bit harder to do.

5. What can be improved in this project? putting and pitching session with the coach should be more as one class is not enough

Week 4 Progress: Learning Breaststroke Step by Step

Muhammad Bin Safe'e, A194866, 26/08/2025

1. Were the objectives of the project fulfilled?
Yes, the objectives I set were fulfilled this week. My main goal was to start learning the breaststroke, and with the help of a floater, I managed to practice the basic arm pulls and leg kicks. At first, it felt awkward to coordinate everything, but slowly I began to get the rhythm. Even though I still rely on the floater, I feel proud that I can already move forward using the proper breaststroke technique. It feels like a big step compared to when I first started.

2. What have you enjoyed or liked the most?
The part I enjoyed most was realising that my body could finally glide across the pool, even if only a short distance. Using the floater gave me a sense of security, so I could focus more on technique without panicking about sinking. I especially liked practicing the kicks—the moment I pushed water properly and felt myself moving forward was very satisfying. It showed me how much power comes from the legs.

3. What have you found challenging about this project?
The biggest challenge was definitely breathing while trying to coordinate the arm and leg movements. Sometimes I came up too early or too late, which broke my rhythm and made me swallow water. It was also tiring to repeat the movements again and again, but my coach kept reminding me to stay relaxed instead of forcing my strokes. Slowly, I started to understand that swimming is not just about strength but also about rhythm and calmness.

4. What has really worked?
Using the floater really worked for me. It gave me the balance I needed, and from there I could pay more attention to the smaller details like my foot position and arm pull. My coach also gave me specific feedback, such as keeping my knees closer and turning my feet outwards to form the correct “frog kick.” These small corrections made a big difference, and I could feel myself moving smoother in the water.

5. What can be improved in this project?
I would like to practice more without the floater so I can be more independent in the water. I also need to work on my breathing so that it feels more natural and doesn’t break my flow. With more practice, I hope to swim a short lap of breaststroke without any aid. Even though there is still a long way to go, I feel this week has given me a strong foundation and more confidence to keep improving.

HAZIQ DZAIDIN IMRAN

A194566

25 - 31 August 2025

Were the objectives of project fulfilled?

Yes, I believe the main objectives of this elective posting were successfully achieved. My aim at the start was to learn the basics of tennis, improve my fitness, and understand how sports can build discipline and teamwork. Over the month, I progressed from struggling with basic strokes to rallying with more confidence, while also appreciating the mental aspects of the game such as focus, strategy, and resilience

What have you enjoyed or liked the most about the project?

What I enjoyed most was the sense of rhythm and flow during rallies. By the fourth week, I could sustain longer rallies with fewer mistakes, and that feeling of being “in the game” was deeply satisfying. I would say now, I can understand everything when I watching tennis games on television.

What have you found challenging about this project?

One of the biggest challenges I faced was mastering the serve. Even after weeks of practice, it remained inconsistent and sometimes frustrating. Another challenge was physical stamina, especially during longer sessions under the sun, where maintaining focus became difficult.

What has really worked?

The structured weekly drills, starting with warm-ups, followed by focused skill practice (forehand, backhand, footwork), and ending with short games, really worked well. This methodical approach allowed me to build a strong foundation while keeping the sessions engaging.

What can be improved in this project?

What could be improved is spending more guided time on advanced skills such as serving and anticipating opponent’s shots. While rallies helped improve my consistency, I would have benefited from more targeted drills focusing on specific weak areas.
