She feels ashamed of herself because she knows she is a fool for being with a cheating man. -H.L.S

Tom and Daisy's party is awkward. Nick doesn't seem to have any fun whatsoever, it's like a job to him. He has to go to this, he has to meet new people. But, this could just be Nick's personality. To counter this, Jordan looks like she's more interested in the drama of Tom's affair than the party. Nobody talks about the food or the other guests, unless it's the affair. These people don't even seem like they're existing in the same room together. They all have agendas. Tom just wants to talk to his mistress, and Daisy just wants Tom to not talk to the mistress. Frankly it seems like an office meeting or a doctors appointment than a party. Just some appointment you have to get done.

Since Nick is from the Midwest, he is not used to these dinner parties in New York. However, we can see how he is adapting during each dinner party. For example, at Mr. Gatsby's party, he initially did not like the atmosphere and wasn't sure if he would even like Mr. Gatsby since he doesn't know him. He later finds Gatsby and realizes that he is a person just like anyone else. He starts to like the atmosphere and style of the dinner parties compared to when he first was invited to them.
-Cameron T.

This was more like it, a magical Willy Wonka Wonky Willy's kinda party. When people walk in they're astonished with the amount of wealth this man actually has. They see his house like a castle filled with wonder. It's a mystery just who this Gatsby is, and how he makes his copious amounts of cash. Just as Myrtle mentions, a party this massive can split into little cliques. You got the bureaucrats, super drunk guys, etc. Nick actually enjoys this one.

The tone of the third party was lively and unconcerned. During this party there was a lot more people who came due to Gatsby wealthy status. The party was also unconcerned because of the amount of people there. Due to the large population none cared who did what and what happened because you can't tell who is there due to the sheer size and the amount of people in Gatsby mansion.
aniyah scott
