One goal I have for this project is to be able to develop a well played piece on my own with the help of my group and no teacher. This project will help us learn how to communicate as a group to fix certain issues. Not only will it help us learn how to develop and play pieces on our own, but it will show us how important practicing is. If we don't work as a group to practice, learn, and develop our pieces, the outcome may not be as good as we had hoped.

My goal for this Chamber Project is perfecting the ability to play in a small ensemble. Each group has unique sound, in other words different variety of instruments makes a different contribution in sound. Last year our group did a really good job on playing together and playing the rhythms correctly. This year our goal is to stay in tune, focus on the accidentals, and contrast. I hope this project can give us the confidence to play in a public area.

My goal for this project is to be able to play well in a small ensemble. I want all of us to be able to play together at the same tempo without anyone being ahead of the other. One of the most important parts to me is being musical with our pieces both during practice and performance. Overall, I hope we can cooperate with each other and have a good final result.

As we have progressed through this project, we are definitely better than when we started. Although we still have some pieces that need work, we have been actively working on problematic areas. For example, the upper strings have had a hard time with their melody in Canon in D, but as the lower string instrument, I’ve tried to keep a steady beat to make it as easy as possible for the upper strings. Personally, I have had trouble with measures 28-32 in Viva La Vida, but Ms. Glasgow and Michelle have both helped me figure out what it is supposed to sound like. Despite being the only lower string instrument, my group members have made it easy to figure out areas I have problems with. I believe that by the time performance day comes, we will be even more ready than we already are.

Overall, this project much more different than the past two years we have done it. I feel like since we have done it for four years, it is harder to execute a nice performance and at the same time come up with new ideas. Our performance ended up going much better than I expected it to go, only because I feel like we did not have as much time to practice as we have in the past. Even then, my group and I managed to practice all the areas we struggled with in time for performance day. Personally, I feel like Viva La Vida sounded the best when we performed; I honestly thought it would be Fantasia. As a musician, this project taught me how to figure out certain notes, shifts, and rhythms required for each piece. This project has definitely helped me improve my skills as a musician, helped me figure out how to do things on my own, and to work with other students from my class.

For our songs, they're okay so far but we need to work on staying together for Canon in D. Fantasia is our best piece, and there are only a few spots in Snowflake where we rush as a group. For me, I need to work on intonation and dynamics. It's a lot harder to do dynamics in a small group but I think we will improve in time for the performance.

Overall, I think the performance went really well. We were the last group playing so I was nervous while everyone was watching. Though I did make a few mistakes, it was not incredibly noticable and didn't cause the group to stop playing. We went on through all of our pieces and sounded good. Everyone played clear and I think my intonation got to where I wanted to be. Our best piece was Fantasia and Viva la Vida sounded a little off at times but it did not ruin our performance. We did really good as a group once we got out spot settled and our pieces in order.

We helped eachother on each difficult part in the pieces. This year I changed the way I practiced by playing a part and listening to the same exact part on YouTube which helped me vision myself playing the same exact part. Gaby, Michelle, and Sam all understood my struggles and baby stepped me through it. Later on, I started to recognize the parts and I played it very well.
