Bob Marley is a known human rights activist from Jamaica, he was also known for bringing reggae music to the Westren World. "I shot the Sherif" is a protest song about police brutality and self defense. The protaganist in the song states that he saw the sheirf aim at him, so he shot first, but he didn't shoot the deputy. Stating that this wasn't him firing blindly at all police enforcement, but rather self defence. We all have a right to feel protected and not marginalized under the law.

A country where the human rights situation has improved recently: PEI Blood Donation System

Canada's ban on men who have sex with men donating blood has been in place since 1977. That is until 2021 in PEI. Now, instead of specific individuals being turned away from donating blood completely because of their sexual orrentation, blood poles ask EVERY applicant a series of questions regarding their sexual life to be sure there is no possibility they have contrated HIV or any other blood born disease. This is important right we have to be seen as all the same despite our sexual orenintations, and not be deamed immediately unclean for being apart of a certain group.

Emme Watson is a well known British actress, mainly known for her role in the movie series Harry Potter. But she also a big activist in gender equality, especially womens education and rights, and was appointed UN Women Goodwill Ambassador in July 2014. “The chance to make a real difference is not an opportunity that everyone is given and is one I have no intention of taking lightly. Women’s rights are something so inextricably linked with who I am, so deeply personal and rooted in my life that I can’t imagine an opportunity more exciting. In theory, the human right to life is globally accepted and allowed. Because no one is going to in theory not allow you to be born, or kill you for simply being alive. Although this is seen as a human right that is acheived globally, there are debates that if certain pratices may stay in the way of that. Things like capitial punishment and abortion are discussed frequently about if they violate this human right or not.

A right all children should have: A Right to Education

All children should have the right to be able to go to school and for it to be safe and accesible for them to do so. Education is important for all, but especially for people in the early stages of life. Its important for their brain develop and it sets the up for success in the real world. Knowledge is power.

Israel is ranked 10 on Worst Countries for Racial Equity Ranking. Why? Israel has always been criticized by human rights organizations for its occupation of the West Bank and blockade of Gaza. Especially now with the genocide raging in Palestine, fueled by ethnic and religous hate, and zionism. Israel’s retaliatory actions in Gaza also have garnered scrutiny and objections from around the world, with tens of thousands of Palestinians killed.

In many places in the world, abortion, or even base level womens health care, has been made illegal or completely unaccesible. These laws put in place by corrupt polititions/goverments violates a persons right to their own body, as well as a right to be offered health care that they need. An abortion can be a life saving treatment in many cases, and even if it isn't, it is a womens right to choose what her body will do. This is the same with contraceptives and other female orriented health care. An act of removing this kind of care is an act of treating women like tools to only bring life into the world and sexism.

A movie that is about human rights: Human Harvest

Human Harvest is a 2014 film that was directed by Leon Lee. The movie dives into a investigation about the organ trade in China. It follows a phenominon that happened in China in around the 2000s, where many poeple would travel to Chine for organ transplants, and the number of organs they were able to supply was baffleing and almost to good to be true, even for their large population. It was rumoured that hospitals were harvesting live prisoners for their organs, and so a investigation was launched and this movie was born.
