Not much about them was recorded until they were discovered in 1673 by explorers from France. In 1808, the US government started taking away their land. Because of this, a reservation was formed for the Osage Indians in 1825 in Southern Kansas. The Osage tribe also defeated the Caddo tribes, gaining dominance in the Great Plains region. During the year of 1833, the Osage massacred 150 people of the Kiowa tribe by the Wichita Mountains. It seems like the Osage people were brave and warlike, liked their power, and were not afraid to take action and people’s lives, including those of other native american tribes. There were two chiefs per band and were picked from the men of particular clans or families. Soldiers also had power and were expected to deal with daily problems and lead the hunts along with the chiefs. Never quite fully understanding how the force itself worked, they believed that some people could turn themselves into animals.
