They went there to experience high school. We were split into four groups. we did three activities which were cooking, science and PE.

During PE lessons we had to do  a warm up. There was a cone between to people and they had to snatch in when the teacher said go. We also had to play a game of nots and crosses but physically. We had to run to the hoops so we could throw the bean bag.

We also did cooking. when we did cooking we had to make Anzac biscuits. We were given a recipe to follow. We had to share between two. We had to wear aprons. The biscuits that everyone made got to keep them.

Another subject was science. In science we did 3 experiment. The first experiment was when we got felt paper and a marker. We had to draw a dot and put it in mythaleted spirit. It was how the colours separate. The second experiment was when we had a  glass with a green chemical and when we blew carbon dioxide it changed the colour of it . The final experiment was when we used the Bunsen burner. We had to change the colour of the fire by using different chloride like sodium. Every chloride turned a different colour.


At the end we got pizza as well as a zooper doper ice blocks.

We had a great time and hope to go again.

But my favourite experiment was changing the colour of fire. In cooking, we made delicious-looking anzac cookies and later we got to take them home. They also gave us the recipe so we could make them at home. In PE, we got to play two amazing games. the first one was snatch. First we got split into groups because there were 4 activitys and 4 groups. As we walked to the high school it was tiring  but also was quiet fun.

As  we got there my group did P.E first and did a game called reflex when the teacher has to say touch your body area and played a game called noughts and crosses, my group got split into fours  and we had to run to the area and put the bean bags in side to connect three as a group.

 The second thing was cooking and we made Anzac buiscuits with a partner and they were a DELICOUS!!! After we did cooking we had a tour by the high school students. There were lots of areas and people from our school and it felt like you could get lost but they said "as you get used to the school you won't get lost. 

When we finished having the tour we had our recess together as year fives.When we finished our recess two groups were together when we did science which was also fun.

We had loads of fun there. It was interesting and awesome.                                                                                                               We stated walking at 9:00am in the morning up to Pendle Hill High School in groups. I was in blue group and we started with some PE, after a 20 min walk! we played awsome and new games, eg human knots and crosses and snatch.                                     Then we went to the kitchen to make........Anzac biscuits! It was complicated but my partner Ammar helped me.They tasted delicious and we got to take 6 home and you made a dozen (12).We had a tour a well.          We had recess and then had a science lesson. It was an amazing experience. We mostly learned about chemicals. My favourite part was changing the fire colour. We also learned about the Bunsen Burner. The high school gave us pizza, zooper doper and a water bottle. We started walking back to school at 1:00.We got back at 1:20.

Y5 went to Pendle Hill high to
experience what its like to
go to high school.
we were split into 4 diferent colour coded groups. my group was blue group. 

we first did PE. we played 2 games. Then we made Anzac biscuits it took a long time for them to be ready. After that we did SCIENCE!! we first blew bubbles into a chemicle called the universal indicator then we had these big toothpicks that were dipped in different chlorides and held them over a burning Bunsen burner that created a different coloured flame.then we ate pizza and ice blocks after that we got the Anzac biscuits we made and left. :)

At 9:15 AM, we started walking from DRPS. Then at 9:45 AM we reached Pendle Hill High School. We were divided into 4 groups- Blue, Orange, Purple and green. I was in the green group. 
First, we went to a science lab. It was room where there were stations for gases, water, safety glasses and chemicals. We did a string of experiments such as Separating colors of the black ink using methylated spirit. We used the Universal indicator to change the  neutral chemical to an acid. We did this by using a straw and blowing in Co2 (Carbon Dioxide) to change the color. We used a bunsen burner and changed colors of fire using different colors of chemicals. 
Then we had our recess.
Later, we resumed our day and my group went to P.E ( exercise and fitness). During that session our group did some warm up and played games like "Live Knots and Crosses" and "Steal the" + the  "Golden Child". 
After that, we had a tour from students from Year 8 at Pendle Hill High. On the tour we saw the lots of things. Some of them were 
  • The Canteen
  • Library
  • Science Labs
  • Computer Labs
  • English rooms
  • Softball Pitches
  • Cricket Pitches
  • garden
  • Basketball/ Volley Ball/ Tennis Courts. 
  • Storage Rooms. 
  • School Hall
  • And Cafeteria
Throughout that time we met ex-students from our school. It was nice to meet them after a long time.

All year 5s got split up into 4 groups. I was in purple group with Emme. We got to see their high school and how they learn. Year 5 did cooking, science, P.E and a tour. First my group did cooking then we did P.E after that we had a tour around the school next we got to have recess and finally we did science. we also had pizza for lunch.  In cooking we made Anzac biscuts and they were delicious. In P.E we did some fun games and in science we did cool experiments. In science we used a Bunsen burner we blew into a cup with some green chemical in it and when we blew into it  eventually turned yellow. another experiment year 5 did was we put a black dot on a little piece of paper and then we put the piece of paper in mutilated spirit and it slowly tuned into different colours.My favourite task was science and P.E. yesterday was a very fun day.

We had to accomplish 4 activities. They were, Science, PE(Sports), Cooking and a tour around the school. Since there were so many year 5 people, we were split into 4 groups.


Firstly, my group did cooking so they told us that it was very important to wash our hands. But the smell amazed me most. As soon as I entered the room, an aroma of coconut and oats appalled my sense of smell. I extremely enjoyed shaping the mixture into balls and flattening the balls.

As the second activity, we did PE.
I had heard that a group had to do PE straight after a long walk. I felt sympathy for them. Our group played, 'Steal the cone' and 'Sprint noughts and crosses'.

Pendle hill high school to be infact.This excursion was for the year 5 student only.We meet up at the flags.Straight after the bell rang we started to walk to pendle hill high school. When we got there we were seperated to the groups where we had been put the day before .I wa sput in the green group.

My first stop was at the science lab.It was very cool.The first thing we did there was  learning the rule of the lab.We did a work sheet on it. That was only the start. Next we started doing experiments.The first experiment was to use special paper and then make a dot using a permenant marker.We did this experiment so we could find out the different the different colours that was used to make the black colour.the strip was dipped into the mathaylatic spirit. Then we moved onto the next eperiment,we used universal indactor .First we had neutral
indicator then we had to use a straw and then blow into to make it acid or base.The next experiment was my favourite.We use a bunsen burner.We learned about the different flames.we used schewers dipped in different types of chlorides wich produced different flames.

The walk was very tiring but once we got there it was worth it. We did 3 activities, science, PE and cooking. And they were all SOOOOOO fun.

 In science we did experiments that were OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! We changed the colour of a black marker using methalated spirit. We even changed nutrials into asids by using carbondioxide, we blew bubbles into a green nutrial and turned it into a yellowish/orangish asid. The last thing we did in science was use a buncen burner. We lit the buncen burner with a match. We then  closed the gas hole and saw an safety flame and when we closed gas hole we saw a blue flame and put sticks that were covered in chorlide to change the colour of the blue flame. The colours it turned into was aqua, orange, purple, red and green.

After that we did PE which is sport. The games were REALLY FUN. We played reflex, X & O's and golden child. I bet my friend in reflex and X & O's but she bet me in golden child.

It was an extremely tiresome walk up the hill, so tiresome almost everyone was drenched in sweat.
I fell particularly bad for Blue group  who soon as arrived had to do  P.E. Sad. My group, Purple group, got to make ANZAC biscuts first, in their amazing Cooking Room. While Orange and Green group were doing fun Science projects in the Science Lab. Back in the Cooking Room, Ayah and I were mixing the ingredients for the biscuits. I was mixing wet ingredients Ayah as  mixing the dry ones. At last, we were done after mixing both wet and dry together and scooping it onto the trays, and our helpful assistant put it into the oven.

Next, we rotated, Green and Orange group were still doing Science, as it was a double period. Purple group moved on to P.E. Blue group went to Cooking, but in that time, they had already done their tour of the school too. Back at the hall, we were playing a competitive game. It didn't have a particular name, but it involved snatching the cone before your opponent after preforming a set of moves/actions.  Ayah and I tied, both with two wins and then a tie. Then after that we played an altered version of Knotts and Krosses.  The hoolahoops represented the grid, and the coloured beanbags represented the Knotts and Krosses. I was a team captain, so I put the fastest runner first and the most tatic last, we won all the games apart from two

First of all we  were put in groups. There were for 4 groups: Blue, Purple, Yellow/ Orange and Green.

We had to walk there, it was really tiring and when we got there I was totally exhausted! It was really hot indeed!

 Purple group went to the cooking class first, we made Anzac biscuits, and at the end we got to collect them! They were fantastic! The good thing about them is that we had no milk or eggs in it, it was all melted butter! YUM!

On 29th of November,2017 we went to pendle hill high school.First we went into our groups my first subject was  science it was so cool and fun.

 We had a texter and we had to draw a dot on a piece of paper at the very end of the lesson we took the paper out and colours started emerging from the paper.I found out that the black texter is made out of different colours which is called the methylated spirit. After that we learnt about the universle colours . we had a green cup and we had to blow through a straw so the carbonoxide can come in we found out it changed it to yellow which was an acid.We also learnt about the Bunsen Burner we put gas and then opened the air hole. It is visible to see the fames whenthe air hole is closed and it is not very visible when the air hole is open we used a variety of chloride colours which changed the colours of the flames               

After science we had P.E it was SOOOO FUN!!!!!! First we played a game called reflexs. you have to get a partner and there is a cone on the ground and what you have to do is to get it first. We all walked up to Pendle Hill High School at 9:00am.

 I was so exhausted by the time we reached there that  I  had sunscreen cascading down my face like a waterfall! 

After we reached here we were introduced to our host, the PE teacher for Pendle Hill high School.

 My group first went to the science lab. There we tested different chemicals. We first did our experiment  with the methylated spirit. We made a black mark on a filtered paper, then we positioned our filtered paper in the spirt. The result stunning! All the colour used to make the black marker sundered and all the colours were visible! Then we experimented with the universal dictator. We lerant that liquids had three states acid, moderate and base. 

The universal dictator we use was green which means moderate. We were asked to blow carbon dioxode through a straw into the moderate liguiod. We had to transform it from a moderate to an acid. We blew into it until it became orangeish yellow.

Then we used the Bunsen Burner, we learnt how to use it. If we close the airhole in Bunsen Burner, it becomes a bright, gold yellow;if we open it, it becomes blue and nearly invisible!
Then we were given bamboo skewers dipped in different Chlorides to burn while the airhole was open. The different Chrorides changed the colours of the blue fire to other colours!

After two exciting hours of Science, we had recess.
After a relaxing break.we went to the our next session;which was cooking! We cooked Anzac Biscuits which we were allowed to take home! 

Then we had PE! We played cross and noughts relay and a game which would build up our concentration. Then we had pizzas and zooper doopers for lunch.

After that, we started walking back to our school.

 When we got there we split up into four groups and took turns doing different activitys. My group (which was orange group) did science first.

 It was lots of fun we did three different experements including using a bunsen burner. The bunsen burner was so much fun we got to change the colour of flame by puting different chlorides (which was on a skewer) on the flame. 

Next we all got together and had some recess. We also got to go to there canteen if we had money. There canteen was huge and had so many different options you could get.

After our quick break we went to the food tec room and made some ANZAC biscuts which we got to take home. They tasted sooooooo good. We made the cookies with partners i was Kianas partner. Then we got a tour of the garden by the teacher that was in the food tec room. She let us eat some of the beans that were growing there.


Then we did some P.E. We played two games and both of them were lots of. One of them was noughts and crosses but the human relay version. the hoola hoops where the squars and the bean bags were the x's or o's. The next game we played tested our reflexes we had grab the cone when the teacher said go and it was quit hard.

 Our goup did cookin we went to fined a parntner (my partner was Maria) to start cooking delicious Anzac biscutst. First we mix all the ingredients tht were prvited togeter. Next we poor the water into the bow and star mixing untill it stars to look yummy. After that we got a spoon and stared to make a shake of a flat biscuit ans then the High School helpers put he cookies in the oven.

On the 29th of November was a wonderful day because we got to see how High School was like. We had so much fun doing Science, PE and Cooking. For Science we did three experiments. One of them was putting a filter paper with a black marker on it in methylated spirit. The second one was a how to change a neutral colour in a Universal indicator to a acid. We had to blow on the straw and the colour was green and it changed to either yellow or orange. Carbon Dioxide changed the colour of a neutral to acid. The third one was a bunsen burner. If the colour of the flame is yellow it is a safety flame and if it was blue it could burn anything. We got screwers and dip them into many chlorides. For Cooking we made delicious anzac biscuits. My group went to the school's science lab. We did many different experiments. Our first experiment was seeing how many colours black was made out of by dipping the filtered paper ,that we made a dot on, into Methylated spirit. Our next experiment was changing a neutral into a carbonic acid.We changed the colour of the neutral from a green to a yellow or orange by blowing into it by a straw. Our last experiment was the bunsen burner.

At first we put a dot 2 cm from the bottom of the filter and put it into the spirit to separate the colour. Then we learned how to use the earned how to use the Bunsen Burner, then we used it.

There were skewers   which were dipped in to a solution and if you put the skewer onto the fire which made it change the colour of the fire.

That was our first activity.

 Next we did PE. PE is sports. In our first game we had to partnar up with some one in our group. There was a cone between you and your partnar. We walked up there and were divided in 4 groups. I was in Blue group. The first activity we did there was PE. We were taught a two player game involving a cone. We had to do the instructions the coach told us to do. When he said the word "go",we had to snatch the cone before our opposition.The next PE game we played was physical version of naughts and crosses.
Next, Blue group did cooking. we made scrumptuous ANZAC biscuits. After we finished we were instructed to take a tour around the school. Then we had recess and later were told to go in the science lab. In the science lab, our first experiment was to look at the different colours that make up a particulour colour using a spirit. Thursday the 29th of November all the year 5 student walk up to Pendle Hill High School to experienced what it was like
 in high school,I was in the purple group. In my opinion it was not to harsh but maybe that is because we had helper. They were engage in helping us I couldn't have done it without them. On November 29 2017, all stage 3 year 5  went to Pendle hill high school for high school experience. We started walking at about 09: 15.

First we split into 4 groups- orange, green, purple, blue. Orange and green went for science and purple and blue went to PE. In science we did 4 experiments- seeing what black is made with, turning neutrals into acids according to the universal indicator, using a Bunsen burner and changing the flame colour of the flame.
When we experimented what black is made with, we used methylates spirit to split the colours. We had a piece of paper then we put a black dot 2 cm above the edge. After that, we dipped it into the spirit. after 5 minutes we saw what black is made with- it was made with kind of a yellowish green.
In the second experiment we each had a neutral and a straw. We looked at the universal indicator and learnt that acids are red or orange or blue, neutrals are green and bases or alkaline are purple or dark pink.
We changed the neutral into a acid by adding carbon dioxide. We did that by taking the straw and blowing in to the neutral.  Everyone made the neutral orange! In the third experiment we learnt how to use a Bunsen burner. We learned the parts of it and we learnt that different types of flames are used for heating. We all used the Bunsen burner. First we got the match burnt it and put the flame on the Bunsen burner.

they did. We where split in 4 groups: orange, green, blue and purple. We started at 9:00 and walked to  Pendle Hill High School.  The orange group first went to the science laboratory. We started by learning about colour filtering Colour out of black marker. we did this by putting a dot of black marker on filter paper, and dipping the filter paper into methylates spirts and at hey end of the lesson the colour filtered out of the paper.

It was so hot that everyone started sweating. When we finally arrived. My group, blue group, had PE first.
In PE we played 2 games. My favourite game was Tick Tack Toe running version. After half an hour of playing games we had to leave to go to our second activity.
Our second activity was cooking.
 
In the kitchen we had to wash our hands because we might spread our germs if we don't. There we got to bake ANZAC biscuits. I was partnered with Raiyan. We both mixed the ingreients and one of students kept on adding more ingredients. We had to shape our biscuits in the end and put them on the tray. The students put our cookies in the oven. 

After that all of blue group were led on a tour by 2 of the students. They showed us all of the places in the school. There were many fascinating places in the school.

After that we were taken to eat our recess. After half an hour of eating and playing we were led to the science lab. When we arrived we realised that everything was clean. We sat down at the desks. We were given booklets. We were told to list the things that were going wrong in the picture that we wre given. After we did that activity, we started to do a science experiment. In the science experiment we recieved a piece of paper. We used a marker and drew a dot 2cm from the bottom. We put that paper in a spirit. We had let it stay in the spirit for the whole session. The next experiment we conducted was even more interesting. We recieved a liquid that on the universal indicator was nuetral. We blew in carbon dioxide using a straw. Year 5 to that high schoolbecause were experiencing high school and its subjects
 walked to the school. When I got there we went to our first activity. I went to science experiments first and they were amazing. Our first science experiment was using a liquid and we got a piece of paper and drew a dot on it and after the whole science session to finish the experiment but we didn't just do one experiment we did another two. The other one was with some flames and we had to put a stick that was dipped into different chlorides and they changed colour. After we did some P.E and we played games of Nots and Crosses in teams.
We also did cooking, we made some Anzac biscuits and they smelt delicious. After we ate pizza that was provided for us from the high school. We also got an ice block each and after we got our biscuits we made
