It’s a typical Friday night and I’m getting ready to sleep, washing my face, brushing my teeth. I get into my “beloved” bed and get comfortable in my sheets. I'm not the type of person who instantly falls asleep when I get into my bed, so I layed there staring at the ceiling. Suddenly I hear an insanely sound knocking from the living room, I started panicking instantly and deciding if I should see who it is. It stopped for a while… Then the same loud knocking came back but it was at my window, my body went stiff since my head is directly at the window. I stopped again and the silence got to me, I started being very cautious. Then my brain just decided to remind me about the horror video that I saw, let me tell you it literally did not help in that situation. Then I heard another knocking but it sounded like it was coming from the other side of the house. I heard the living room light switch turn on and heard my mom complaining to my dad “How did you manage to lock yourself out of the house?!”. I’ve never felt so relieved.

It was around 7:00 pm on a gloomy day rain was pouring like feathers I was about to take a nap on the couch because isn’t that what everyone does nowadays, I am a light sleeper so if I do go to sleep directly then I was probably very exhausted that day but because of lockdown, I have no reason to be exhausted as I lay down I suddenly hear a sound which was very similar to snoring I get up to see who it is because you can hear the noise at our house easily even if your outside. I got up the balcony door was open which was near the living room I looked outside for no reason and I see a butterfly literally impel towards me I thought it was coming straight at me so I grabbed the pillow and used it as a sword which is not very effective but I realized late… I looked around to see if the butterfly was still near bad news alert it was making itself comfortable on a table that was right next to me! I know there is no reason to be scared of a butterfly or that’s what I thought but it did not look like one because as I got closer. I was shivering maybe I am over exaggerating. It looked like an unusual creature that was very stubborn looking I was puzzled the creature finally moved I was terrified but then I realized that it was all a dream. Good thing

A luminous, sunny day. A boiling bowl of 5-minute ramen, the strong spicy scent whiffing into my noise. The faint breeze creating a melody, and… fart sounds?...

That's right, imagine having an odd neighbour that really expresses himself unintentionally. Being at school all the time stops me from finding out what my neighbours are really like, thanks to lockdown, I've seen their true selves. It's 6am , and suddenly a big gush of “ACHOO” echoes into your room. Hurricane katrina? No, just a sneeze your next door neighbour has granted you with. What about when you’re enjoying a so delicious meal, all of a sudden.. “BRAPPP” did a bomb drop? Is it WW3?! In fact, a bomb did drop. Except, from someone's bum instead. You can probably tell they had chicken curry for dinner, thank god the windows were closed that time. You take a peep out of your window, hoping to see the ocean blue sky, instead, the sight of your neighbours gambling a game of ‘mahjong’ for money is what you see. How strangely odd. For the fact of this, at times I fear turning on my mic for school calls. Who knows when they could grant me with a triple dip fart or a record-breaking burp. At this point, who needed Netflix when I could receive a free show right in front of my eyes.
*:·ﾟ✧*:·ﾟ✧

Lockdown was simply so dull that I would have rather spent my time stuck in traffic than at home. At first, my friends and I were thrilled that we would get a break, but as time went past, we began growing tired of our routine. Though there were definitely days where our happiness returned. Everytime we would sit on a call and chat, it would seem as though time passed. We continued to bond over our love for movies, watching horrors and animated comedies. We played games and made jokes that would have us rolling on the floor. But I also spent time with my family. My sister and I would make baked treats and share them among my family. We would sit on the couch and make jokes as we binged tv shows and movies across the internet. We even dressed up formally to just stay in and have dinner at the table. Eventually it grew tedious. The days never seemed to end and the workload grew heavier than the week before. It's week five of lockdown now and eye bags have grown, headaches have invaded and the need for mcdonalds has never been higher. Though lockdown has caused me to lose and gain new friends. Social media has been the most entertaining thing I've ever known. It’s helped me talk to friends I have been in contact with for years. And though for the best, made some friendships fall apart too. I’m absolutely sick of staying within the boundaries of my home. I am a prisoner of my own home. Some people have taken this disadvantage on our lives and turned this into a way to better themselves. Some have created a workout, attempting to stay in shape. Others have used this lockdown to make their skin clearer, or learn a new skill. But personally, I cannot find the strength to be productive anymore. It seems as though my routine is similar to a robot. Wake, eat, work, eat, sleep. It became excruciatingly mundane. I’m simpled begging for lockdown to end, as it is the bane of my existence

At the beginning of lockdown I was delighted to get a week off of school just to stay home all day. Day 36. We are still here. Laying in our unmade beds, dishes surrounding us and clothes everywhere, and no energy whatsoever. We sat on call complaining about the work overload, then continuing to go on our phone. This routine happens every . Single. Day. Every movie had been watched, every game had been played, and all the energy had been used. Although there were some days where we used to be so productive and get all our work done and then other days we wouldn't even get up. Laying in bed longer should give you extra energy right? Nope, absolutely wrong, and I don't even know why. At this point we were having dreams about food that we couldn't have. When the time hit 11:11 all we wished for was to be back in a classroom. Yes, we got that desperate. But it wasn't always so bad, I helped my mum cooking and cleaning and my dad got a new motorbike, so we rode that sometimes. But otherwise we were sitting ducks. We were thirsty for drama, so we made it happen online ;). Cutting the toxicity out of our lives might have been the best thing about this 5 week break. We even attempted to make home-made kfc, to be honest it actually turned out to be ok. Or maybe it tasted good because we wanted it so bad. A week into a month, how much longer will we be banned to our homes?

It was exactly 4pm when the prime minister decided to put us into lockdown. I ran to my room and excitedly called my friends to tell them we could sleep in for a whole week! But little did we know that the one week lockdown would turn out to be a one month of lockdown. Counting the days till the update and it ended up being extended, we thought it's nice to work from home but sooner or later we knew it would get boring, 23 days were down and we were still stuck. Some days my friends and I would sit on call complaining about the work we had or other days we would sleep and play games, But it had hit 3 weeks of lockdown and we ran out of things to talk about and do. But things turned around, we fell asleep late, we joined calls from our bed and watched every movie we could think of. Life was good. Nowadays at home it gets dry , home food becomes boring, laptops start heating up, calls become pointless and the obsession of takeaways comes back. Cases fall down and rise back up, which leaves us questioning if we are going to be stuck for longer. We had eventually come to the conclusion that we officially had nothing to do, we went from sleeping in enjoying every aspect of lockdown to sitting on call waiting for friendships to end. At least 3 hours of work a day and we began slowly losing motivation. Screening times went from 2 hours to 6, the workload grew heavier by the day. Lockdown has broken my patience begging and begging to get out of this misery.

i woke up like i normally do assuming that it would be just a normal day like every other day that i would be waking up and going to school like normal but when my mum walked into my room to tell me the news i was brought to the realisation that today isn’t going to be the same boring school day, jacinda Arden announced the day prior that we would be going into alert level 4 at 11:59 but i was not informed about this as my phone was dead and my parents at the time were out on a walk.this was something very bad but i took this as positive information as i thought that we would finally be getting a few days of school or even a week but that ended up not being the case, weeks went by and we were still in lockdown alert level 4, although me and my friends kept in touch it just wasn't the same as actually meeting them at school or outside.lock down got boring very fast and we got a lot more work in my opinion in lockdown than in school, although i was able to complete the work it kept coming each one longer or harder than the last, the only positives about lockdown were that we got to sleep in and got to spend more time with our family but my sister made that hard to enjoy, in my opinion this lockdown has been the worst and the most boring lockdown yet

As I heard the words “we’re moving into lockdown level 4”, 14 emotions hit me like a train. It was 5:43 pm on a tranquil Tuesday evening and I had just gotten back from basketball training. I felt ravenous and drenched in my own fatigue. The sun was starting to set as I sat down to eat dinner. As I hastily started to eat my dinner, I couldn't help but overhear my parents talking about the news, covid-19 specifically.

I heard bits and pieces of their conversation but wasn't paying much attention until I heard the words “lockdown level 4”. I immediately recalled last years quarantine and flashbacks of online classes raced through my head. At first, I felt distressed and grievous due to memories of work overloads and overdue assignments, then it slowly weakened. I wasn't looking forward to lockdown and the only enjoyable part of it was that I could sleep in and “relax” with my family. Well, what I thought would be relaxing became an intense amount of work, and I most definitely prefer attending real class rather than online google meets. Messaging friends just wasn't as good as seeing them in person, and in my opinion, we have twice the amount of work in lockdown, than in school.

My despise for lockdown will never go away. Let's just go to school...

I have a peculiar tendency to wake up prior to my alarm, so you may be wondering, what in the world is the alarm for then? Nothing, absolutely nothing. $7 at Kmart down the drain! It was around 8 am when I was reviewing my computer to view what courses I had to attend for the day. Scrolling through my computer, I could overhear the muffles of my parents in the opposite room. Now my house isn’t very soundproof. If you were to gossip at an average volume from one side of the house, somebody on the other side could eavesdrop on every word. So when my alarm would go off, the entire house could detect it. Abruptly, a beeping noise began, at first on top of the chattering, I could hardly notice it. After approximately 5 to 10 seconds I began to realize this unusual beeping noise. I presumed it was the fire alarm going off, (which for some reason didn’t faze me?) and then it hit me. It was my alarm, flashbacks flooded my head from days before. I had awakened my entire family from forgetting to turn off my alarm, my father had to wake up twice to turn off my alarm. I panicked, fortunately, everybody was already awake, but I still needed to turn it off before anybody could mention it. I sprinted upstairs towards my room, hopped across my bed and finally reached my alarm. I slammed the snooze button and shut my alarm off. A wave of relief washed over me, as I began my way back downstairs. Now I may or may not be making this much more climactic than it was, but trust me, at the moment it was this dramatic. You simply have to trust me. :)

It was 7, a normal day for me. I woke and went downstairs, my mum told me that we have 2 weeks of lockdown. I groaned in annoyance, another 2 weeks of lockdown!? Now it was wake up, get on the laptop, tune into meetings and do the work. It was so repetitive, same thing everyday. I was hoping we don't get an extended lockdown. I listened to the news with my grandpa, I've just jinxed myself. "ANOTHER 2 WEEKS OF LOCKDOWN!" I thought to my self. I was locked up in my house. I had nothing to do. I really thought it would be fun in lockdown, it was the complete opposite, I couldn't even hangout with my friends. But it was for the greater good, so we wouldn't have to be even more scared of catching covid everywhere we go. Another day in lockdown, everything was so dull. I ran out of things to do in my free time. It was like being in a cage while having a beautiful sight of the outside world. I heard that we might go back to school at week 9. I was in joy and relief, it might be over. These boring never ending weeks will be over!

It was a normal night, winds were picking up and clouds started forming. Well "normal" until the word lockdown was audible throughout my house. As soon as that word came out of Jacinda's mouth I was in complete devastation. At first I thought lockdown was going to be an absolute train wreck of a disaster at first. However as lockdown slowly passed on I gradually got used to it and used it to my advantage. Having lockdown meant less classes and work. Thanks to lockdown I was able to catch up on all of my school work quickly. But as lockdown progressed it slowly became better for me. Since lockdown forces us to be inside our homes I got to spend a lot more time with family. It was a lot more fun than last years lockdown. I got to make 3 cheese cakes and more. Lockdown isn't as bad as I thought it would be.

It was an ordinary night just watching Netflix with my siblings until we heard our parents calling, we rushed down the stairs looking at our parents knowing what they were about to say. My dad got off the couch and said you guys aren’t going to school tomorrow. my sister started jumping in excitement, I thought to myself this will be like an early holiday. The days went by and I had confined myself to my room as I lay on my bed dying of boredom all I could hear was the sound of Mr suckling’s voice asking about workloads and lockdown. Because of lockdown, I get yelled at almost every day for being lazy, a couch potato or being too addicted to my laptop and I can’t even blame them I probably spend 8 hours a day on my laptop. Recently my camera had stopped working and that wasn’t really a bother I could use that as an excuse not to use my face cam, but now my microphone has stopped working I have to ask my friends to say I’m here to be marked present on G-meets. But the worst part about my lockdown is staying home with my dad he would stalk me and my siblings like a hawk he had caught my sister watching Netflix several times but unlike my sister, I never got caught. Hopefully, I won’t have to endure this boredom for much longer.

It was a casual morning at home (besides lockdown and my parents being paranoid about vaccines). Getting ready for the day while avoiding all contact with siblings, just a normal everyday routine. It wasn’t until the package arrived at the front door reading with dad’s name and shipment tags all over it. Mum just left for groceries and no one dared wake up dad when he was sleeping. And so I brought in the harmless package and placed it on the coffee table beside me. It was then that I realised that I had made a BIG mistake. As the minutes went by I saw the package and thought to myself “what in the world is in that package?”. As more time passed I became more curious as I found myself reaching closer and closer for the package. My brother saw me and quickly snarked at me and said with a smile “I DARE you to open dad’s package.”

“O-o-pen the p-p-package?” I said in complete fear. My brother started making chicken noises and calling me names. Me being me I didn’t have the patience to endure his annoying comments and I ripped the package open only to find another box in the package. And of course, when I needed mother luck the most she turned away as my dad walked right in to watch me rip open his package. As he took the package off of me I braced myself for what was to come. I closed my eyes, bit down on my teeth, clenched my fists as my dad... opened.. the package? “REALLY?! the smallest screwdriver on the planet!”

“I thought it’d be useful to have around” protested dad with great pride

“I think I should start my school work” I grumbled in disappointment

Never Again... well maybe.

"The cabinet has met this afternoon and made the decision that New Zealand will move to alert level 4 from 11:59 pm tonight”. Panic rushed through my blood vessels. I wanted to cry, I wanted to smash something. A minuscule drop of water emerged from my left eye. Covid-19 had once again entered New Zealand. My birthday was approaching in a weeks time and so was my aunt’s due date for her baby. Though it was announced that lockdown was only supposed to last for a few days I had a gut feeling it was going to last longer. The words of the prime minister echoed throughout my mind. The sharp sound of my phone ringing interrupted my miserable mental breakdown. The letters “Mum <3” flashed across my screen. I half-heartedly picked up the phone. “OMG SAVREET THE COUNTRY’S GOING INTO LOCKDOWN” shrieked my mum from the other side. “I know Mum” I said sniffling between words. “I don’t have time for your tears, Hurry up and check what’s in the fridge and whip up a shopping list for your Dad”. “Ok Mum…” I replied holding back the waterfall of tears that were about to come shooting out my eyes and hung the phone. There I sat all alone in the empty room. I focused my eyes on the birds chirping outside. Never in my life had I wanted to be a bird more badly than now.

Unable to sleep, I stared at my bare ceiling, something felt off. Glancing around my room I happened to find my cupboard wide open, strange. I visibly remember closing the cupboard before getting into bed. I shook it off as I reached out and grabbed my phone from the side table, I scrolled through my phone just like I would do every day, but something just felt so strange about it this one time. I looked back up, finding myself staring at the cupboard again. Part of me wanted to go and check what caused it to open, the other half which was taking over told me to stay in bed and ignore it. Unfortunately as I looked back at my phone, it had died. Sighing I got up, searched for my charger and put my phone onto charge. As I turned around I found myself staring at the same cupboard once again, I didn’t know what was happening but something about that cupboard being open scared me, I didn’t want to check. I turned back, making sure my phone had been charging, the sound of a vibration confirmed my thought. Looking out my window I found myself staring at the empty streets sighing that life has come back to the same old thing. As I rotated my head I began to clean my room up, the lockdown had caused me to make my room feel like my whole house, it was a mess. My room had been beginning to appear dark as the sun set and the moon shined, birds chirping one at a time. Crouching down to pick up something off the floor, I once again glanced at that same cupboard, ‘come on, it can’t be anything too bad’ I thought to myself. Picking myself up, I slowly made my way towards that same cupboard. Shaking from fear I slowly looked inside the pitch black area. I heard a loud screech, my first instinct was to run back and scream. The next thing I heard was the laughter of someone I knew, opening my eyes I saw my dad holding his stomach from the pain his laughter had caused him, I had never felt more relieved in my entire life.

It was a regular Saturday night when just as the clock had hit 12, shortly after that there was a beep coming from the living room my brother and parents had also woken up by the loud ear-piercing noise, my dad thought it was the fire alarm or one of the other alarms so my dad went to take a look, while my mom. called the safety alarm Service and they told us that because of the lockdown they weren’t able to come. so they had suggested that we pull the wires out but the noise still did not stop instead it had gotten much louder and it had seemed like the noise was coming from upstairs so we all went upstairs to see what was the cause of the loud, screeching noise we all went in different directions to try and find where that horrible noise was coming from me and my brother went into the main bedroom, my mom went into the toy room and my dad had gone into the study room. After finding no luck we then went back to where we had started which was where the most noise was coming from, then we started to check the cabinet under the safety alarm. To our surprise we found a toy cash register beeping With the receiver down. I immediately ran to my room to grab its keys and turned it off. Finally, the sound was off. We sat huffed and gave each other a look that I can never forget. We now laugh at what we did in panic. It was a hilarious experience.

It was just a normal Thursday around 7 pm, I was on my laptop watching youtube until I heard an unusual beeping sound. "Is that part of the video?" I thought to myself but I found out what was making the terrible sound eventually, it was a lockdown notice. The first few days of lockdown were fine, I just attended some meetings, watched youtube, played some games. But eventually, I ran out of things to do, and I just find myself staring into the ceiling a lot. After the 2 hell-ish weeks passed, I watched the announcement Jacinda was making only to find out that lockdown is being extended. As I stared into the ceiling again I told myself that this would end soon... right?

Dying of boredom my head was running through thoughts of what to do. I sat up as the best one came to me, that was it, a prank on my two best friends. I grabbed my phone, a grin spreading across my face. “ Riri, Cami, my SIM card got stolen. I was out but my card slot was loose so it fell, I think I lost it at countdown. I realised when I got home I tried making calls and messages but nothing worked. Can you guys please message my number telling them to return it to me or call them. I’m really scared they have all my contacts. ” desperately waiting for at least one of them to reply. A couple of minutes later my phone rings with a new message from Riri saying “ wait what!?” I couldn't stand but laugh at the confusion I put my friends under. Knowing I had to reply I said “ I have never been so scared ”. Exactly a minute later Cami had replied to my message, I could feel the confusion through the screen. She had agreed and messaged my number. My stomach was aching as I received her message. “ Hi I’m sorry but this is my friend's SIM card that you somehow found and I would appreciate it if you could please return it to them. ” These were her exact words. Instead of messaging Riri I decided to call her. “ Hello, ma’am.” I said as I tried not to laugh, she straight away knew it was me and decided to help me carry on the prank. Going back to Cami, I tried to think of something to reply to her but failed. I asked Riri to help and she gave me the perfect answer. I wrote ”Hi, thanks for reaching out to me. I would like to know their address so I can return it to them!”. Minutes had passed yet I had no reply. Suddenly my phone rang again. She messaged me on snapchat asking for my address, so I decided to give it to her. Cami sent another message and it was my address. I was crying. It was hilarious. I felt so bad for Cami, she sounded serious so I decided to end the prank.

It was a regular day and it was night. And then I got the notification for LOCKDOWN? I was thinking about how it was all going to happen again all of the Online classes, work and sleep. Once you in the lockdown for a few days its fine but after finishing what I normally do gaming, youtube and meetings. I started to get really bored and sat in my room all day waiting for the news to come on. I was so eager to hear the GOOD news by Jacinda Arden. but instead it got extended? at that moment I got slapped by 6 different emotions. All I was thinking was about the extension and when was this all going to end. By far this was probably the most boring lockdown. Ontop of that if you have siblings they would annoy the hell at of you. after so much boredom I started binge watching shows, Napping and eating and doing some exercise. I am the type of person to get bored in lockdown. Everyday I thought to myself when is this going to end?
