In North Korea Kim Jong Un is the current leader of the government. The name of the govt is "Democratic People's Republic of Korea. The constitution was adopted in 1942. It was last amended during 2012. It establishes the state's status as socialist. It also gets defined a dictatorship over the people's democracy. The people do have all the normal rights everyone else does but they are superseded. This is mainly for safeguarding the unity of the people. On a scale of 0-100 the economic freedom in North Korea is 5.9.

Voting is mandatory with no choice of candidates. You are only required to vote if you are 17 or older. When you turn in a ballot it only has one name on it that you can cross off. If you cross it off the secret police will go after you and you will be declared insane. "In state media, election days are portrayed as festive events, with people outside each polling station celebrating". Laws that get written are merely approved by the SPA. The number of votes for Kim Jong Un is usually 100%. It looks to forever be like this.

Human Rights Watch describes North Korea as "one of the most repressive authoritarian states in the world." North Korea curtains all of the basic human rights. "It prohibits any organized political opposition." "Arbitrary arrest, torture in custody, forced labor, and public executions maintain an environment of fear and control." There is evidence that North Korea has committed crimes against humanity. Prisoners where killed because they had religious affiliations. Responsibility for the abuses existence was placed squarely with the state. Reveals the state doesn't have any parallel in the contemporary world.

The three generations rule "up to three generations had to be punished to wipe out the seed of class enemies." Access to media "all domestic media outlets are owned by the one-party state." Freedom of movement "It is a criminal offence for North Koreans to leave the county without government permission.", many do so anyway. Practising Christianity "those practising christianity face arrest and being sent to a labour camp." Interracial relationships "female defectors being forced to have abortions.". Economic Rights "Private enterprise of any kind is officially banned.". "Unofficial economic liberalisation has helped North Korea's GDP grow.". "Kim Jong-un has reportedly allowed an increasing amount of unofficial private enterprise.".

North Korea has 9 provinces while the United States has 50 states. The U.S constitution is still used today while the North Korea's was last amended in 2012. The U.S is a constitution based federal republic and North Korea is a dictatorship. North Korea has no political pressures while the U.S has a whole lot of them. Both have had an age of suffrage but it lasted long for the U.S. The leaders for the U.S change through election every few years but in North Korea it is through family and changes when current leader is gone. Both have a republic constitutional form. Power in North Korea is linked to a single movement but it the U.S it is independent of legislature.
