1. The Catholic church wanted to hold on to there traditional
and outdated views because if people listen to Galileo then the church wouldn't have power and the people wouldn't think they are smart  so they 'll go the Galileo  for all there questions and leave the church hanging. 
 
2.  A story that we have read that relates to this story is hunger games because President Snow wanted full control of everyone just like the Catholic Church. But the only different thing is that the church said that if they did not listen then they wouldn't go to heaven and President Snow said that they would kill them.
