Some years ago, William decided to live in the forest, his life in Virginia as a detective and a teacher was too hard for him, and he needed some space to think.

He had heard that the woods of Wolftrap were perfect for hermits like him and he thought it was more than perfect for him to live in, all alone with his pack of dogs, so as soon as he had the chance, he moved immediately to take a rest from all the work he had done.

“But be careful, Mr. Graham” he had been told by people living in a nearby town. “There is a monster in those woods, and they say it robs people to eat them when they enter their land, it always takes girls, but maybe it is dangerous even for you.”

Nonsense, that was what William thought, he didn't believe in those things at all, he was a man of science, a researcher known for always catching criminals, a monster in the woods was not something real or that was going to scare him. He had seen people actually do evil, flesh and blood people, a creature of fantasy was not something that was going to take away his fear, after all, he was a grown man.

William's heart racing, he approached the door, his dogs' frantic barking echoing through the forest. He peered through the peephole, but saw nothing. Suddenly, the door creaked open by itself. A chill ran down his spine. "Who's there?" he called out, trying to sound firm. The response was an unsettling silence. His dogs' barking ceased, replaced by an eerie stillness. William's skepticism began to waver. He remembered the townspeople's warnings. Could it be true? He stepped outside, into the moonlit darkness, and that's when he saw it: a pair of glowing eyes.
