  • 1 long-barreled rifle that fired its bullet with compressed air, rather than by flint, spark and powder.
    1. With any other gun, you could run out of bullets, gunpowder, and matches. With this gun all you have to worry about is the bullets. This also gives you more room for other tools. 
  • Knives
    1. Knives are a backup for your guns. If you do run out of bullets, gun powder, or matches, you can use a knife. Knives also help with many things. Better to have something that can do many things rather than something that can only do one thing.
  • Other drugs for blistering, salvation, and increase kidney output. 
    1. This is just for your everyday needs. These are a abundance of random drugs, and I’m sure that in some way to can make different things with these. If you get sick and all you have are these, you could look for something to mix with the drugs to make the medicine you are looking for. 
  • A two-volume edition of Linnaeus (the founder of the Latin classification of plants)
    1. In order to make sure you know what you can eat or what you have to stay away from, this book would help out. Also, it would help classify unknown plants. 
  • 30 steels for striking to make a fire
    1. This would come in handy to make a fire, and would probably be quicker than doing it by hand. 
  • Writing paper, ink and crayons,
    1. How else are you supposed to write down your finding along the way?
  • 130 rolls of tobacco 
    1. If you got into trouble with the Indians, this would  be a great thing to give them. It would probably save your life. 
  • Mosquito Curtains
    1. Back then, I’m sure mosquitos were everywhere. With this you may lesson the chance of getting sick from these insects. 
  • Chronometer 
    1. This will help make a map of the area they are making. This is a need due to the fact that this is the whole purpose of the trip. 
  • 12 pounds of soap
    1. This may not sound like a need, but it honestly is. If you aren't going to be clean then the indians may not take you seriously. You will also be more prone to  getting sick and dying.

These flowers grew in big patches. Surprisingly, the flowers managed to stay bloomed during the winter and even at the time of a drought. Some of these flax flowers were other colors such as red or yellow. The yellow and red flowers weren’t that kind though, as one of our horses ate these and became sick. We saw the flowers near the end of our journey to the Pacific Ocean.

They are nice gentle creatures. Their feathers have a nice pattern of black, blue and white colors. These birds were found eating seeds, rodents, berries, nuts, and even other birds eggs from nests. We also saw a magpie take a few pieces of food from our dog. Those little rascals.

              The Nez Perce Indians lived in villages scattered in the Plains west of the Rocky Mountains. These Indians were amazing horsemen, had plenty of salmon along the Clearwater and Snake rivers, and had harvested plants in the mountain meadows. This large community was full of 4,000 people. 
              When meeting Lewis and Clark, they were very scared. They hid in tall prairie grass, but soon Clark found them and offered each a ribbon. This symbolized that they were friendly and did not want to hurt them. Most of the Nez Perce men were on a raid and wouldn’t return for two weeks. This didn’t stop the rest of them from getting to know Clark and Lewis. They gave them a feast of buffalo, dried salmon, and camas bread. 
              The Indians and Clark traded gifts, and both seemed satisfied. The chief of the tribe was named Twisted Hair. Twisted Hair and his son helped Clark make canoes, and traded him horses for their long trip. In return Corps provided guns to the Indians along with other weaponry items.
