-The overall theme of the reading we did today was competition and what it can lead to if taken to seriously
-We are yet to be given the name of the narrator in the text but we were introduced to the setting and the other characters
-Talked about the setting in which the setting is an all boy very strict academic school
-The book introduces us to a competition in which the students have to write a piece of work, an essay or poem, and then a famous writer will come rate the piece.
-Ended our reading with the narrator getting in trouble for humming a nazi celebration song meanwhile the janitor is Jewish.-AF

1. Book started off a little slow when discussing the setting but as the book progressed, we decided that it’s becoming very interesting and we are very excited to keep going.
2.One goal moving forward is that we have discussions like we did today and be more involved when reading. Also, taking some notes or highlighting certain parts into our discussion
3. The thing we did well today was that everyone read so that we had a really strong discussion unlike last class. With this said, we still need to read on our own because we need to catch for missing the class.

-Talked about the irony that is found in Chapter 2 called On fire and how the poems they are writing about frost.
-The book is starting to take off and describe the different types of setting
-The author is setting a backbone to the book because he is describing different events that had happened in the past at the school and what affect it has on the school today
-Overall, the story is still a little bland because the author goes into detail about little things instead of actually setting an overall big picture and describing it.
- we are all speculating how the little tidbits of plot the author throws around will tie into the plot later in the book

1. One thing we did well was that we got our pallet fully established and we starting somewhat talking about the characters in the book
2. We need to get our books and be ready for next class because me and Gavin didn’t have our books due to retreat
3. Something we all agree on is that we need to start reading by next class in order to not fall behind
