As a teenager, I am exposed to the internet at a very young age. My life practically revolves around it as I am using it, even for my school works. It is hard to deny that although the internet may not be the safest place, it has also benefitted most of us. However, in order for us to reap the benefits of the internet, it is important for us to keep protected from the threats of potential hackers, scammers, and the like. This led me to believe that Digital Security is one of the most important elements of Digital Citizenship. It is through this security that we may protect our lives on the internet and feel safe and secure despite the threats it has to offer. Ultimately, all the elements of Digital Citizenship helps ensure that we are able to maximize the benefits that the internet has to offer, while at the same time, minimizing the harmful effects that may occur.

JOURNAL #4. How will you use this knowledge (Advertising Literacy) to influence the world for good?

In our digital world today, we rely on social media to influence us. One way that social media can do this is through advertisements. These short, yet motivating videos are one way that companies hook you into getting their product. It can also be used as a way to spread a message. Nevertheless, advertising brings a big impact on our society. With this knowledge in mind, I can use advertising to my advantage by raising awareness of the different problems we face in our world today. An example of this is raising awareness of our Sustainable Development Goals, just like we are doing in this subject. A simple act of engagement already means a lot which is why, it is important that we use advertising to our advantage, and for the benefit of others.
