This year’s keynote speaker is Jed Dearybury, a nationally recognized educator, author, and advocate for engaging and inclusive classrooms. Dearybury began his teaching career in 2001 and has since earned numerous accolades, including being featured in GQ Magazine as Male Leader of the Year, meeting President Obama as South Carolina’s honoree for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and being named a top-five finalist for South Carolina Teacher of the Year. In 2016, he became the first Milken Fellow from South Carolina.

Since transitioning from the elementary classroom in 2015, Dearybury has dedicated himself to training future educators and leading professional development workshops across the country. He is the author of The Playful Classroom (2020), The Courageous Classroom (2021), and The Playful Life (2022). In 2024, he launched Jed Creates, an online shop featuring t-shirts, stationery, stickers, and original art. His debut children’s book, The Rainbow Tree, is set to release soon, followed by Destroy the Box in 2026.

Call for Submissions

GCCC is seeking presenters for the STEM Teacher Summit. If you are a K-12 educator with innovative ideas, strategies, or projects in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM) education, this is an opportunity to share your expertise and inspire fellow educators. Presentation formats include workshops and interactive sessions, each lasting 45 minutes.

·         Hands-on activities and project-based learning

·         Integrating technology and digital tools in the classroom

·         Approaches to teaching STEM for diverse learning styles

·         Collaborations between schools and the community

·         Innovative STEM curriculum design

·         Creating belongingness and confidence in STEM

The deadline for proposal submissions is March 31, 2025. Educators interested in presenting can submit their proposals through the Call for Submission link.

The 2025 STEM For All Teacher Summit is made possible by the 5-year, $5 million Title III Hispanic Serving Institution STEM Grant awarded from the Department of Education to GCCC in 2021.
