Thinking about my goals and vision helped me organize my thoughts and plan in life. There are so many things I want to learn but they could wait while I polish and refine my illustration skills. It really excites me to put my thoughts out there into the world as someone who is silent 90% of the time. At the same time, I’m terrified of what people would think. I’m feeling hopeful though because there are people who believe in me and actually like my art.

How did you understand the Value Proposition?
A value proposition is your statement to why you are valuable to a company. It’s pretty much your selling point to them, and what sets you apart from other competitors. 

Has your Goal and Vision changed in the last 1 year?
My goal hasn’t changed at all since I was a kid. I feel like I had just repressed it as a grew up because I didn’t think it was feasible. But now, with the help and support of my school, professors, friends, and family, my confidence in the path I chose for myself was strengthened. If anything has changed, it’s my resolve to further polish my abilities. My vision as a kid to create drawings people can enjoy in one way or another still stands.

The answer will always be to practice, practice, practice. For me, I need to be firm with myself and stick to a routine. To have discipline to fulfill my own dreams and not let the opportunity pass me by. When I'm feeling burnt out, I need to let myself catch a breather, but prevent myself from quitting altogether. To do this, I think I need all the support I can get from my loved ones. Their support will also give me the pick-me-up I need to start my work once again.

Are there new things you've discovered about yourself?

I discovered that I really am passionate about art and can’t see myself in any other field for most of my life. I have a ton of insecurities that come from my obsession that everything should be learned in a professional academic setting which was not the case for my artistic skills until I enrolled in CIIT. I thought everything could be learned through books, but in art, it takes a lot of observation and even science, and it never occurred to me how difficult it was to project what I imagined in my head onto paper.


What are your action items to achieve your Goal and Vision?

To set up a routine for me. Everyday, I could have prompts on things to illustrate or practice even if it just takes 10 minutes to an hour. It would also help if I keep learning new things everyday through books and other sources I could get my hands on. I need to be up to date with the world and connect with people, foster good connections and create relationships.

It means that for me, art and science is not exclusive to each other. There is beauty in everything, in the same way that patterns can and will arise in every aspect of our lives, including art.
