My name is Vidar. I am a language teacher in Western Norway. My school, Tranevågen secondary school , lies on the outskirts of Norway´s second largest city Bergen, and has around 450 students from 13-16 years old. I have years of experience with different e-twinning projects, and I am also the school co-ordinator of Erasmus+ projects. Every Monday I teach a class of 20 students in International Cooperation. I love learning about different countries and cultures and I love travelling! In Norway we have already started our school year. Looking forward to doing this project with you.

We are quite experienced in eTwinning projects and we run many extracurricular activities/clubs every year. Here is a photo of my class visiting Acropolis (Dionyssus theater) last year. In this project i will involve an ICT class, but still i do not know which one, as we will be back at the class on 12 September and i need to talk to the students first. I’m a big fan of the technology of VECL (Virtual Environment for Collaborative Learning). I like to organize communication of my students with people around the world. It gives me a chance to do my teaching successful. My students always take the lead and decide what they want to do and how they want to do. I always have a lot of ideas for them. They have the ideas too. They discuss their knowledge with others to learn new things. I try to develop a deeper critical thinking around the subject and I give my students confidence. Teaching is like building. Firstly, you build basis and after that you can put bricks one by one. And in a few years you have a small building, in 4 years you have bigger, another 5 years bigger. And soon you can see a skyscraper. And you understand that the part of this work is yours. It’s really happiness to understand that your students become well-educated and successful. It’s a real award for teacher.

And once you start teaching, it’s impossible to stop. It’s like excursion into a mysterious world, which captures your imagination. I never miss a day’s training and never doubt my goal. Teaching gives knowledge, knowledge gives confidence, confidence creates person, successful person. I have a passion of teaching.

Eight words are eight meanings of teaching. So I like teaching because I like these 8 things.
