However, it may not be justifiable for day-to-day monitoring of staff and students. The Data Protection Commissioner advises that CCTV cameras should not enter the classroom itself. The Commissioner also advises that it would be difficult to justify the use of CCTV in offices. Schools/ETBs should ensure to the greatest extent possible that there is no (or only minimal) recording of passers-by or another person's private property.

Images captured on CCTV may have to be handed over to An Gardai Síochána as part of inquiries into criminal activity. The third step is your facial print is then converted into a mathematical equation. Even though there are millions of people on the planet, your facial print is compared a database with other similar faces.
